October 3 Overcomer 1 John 5:5
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:5)
There is an unmistakable fact about living this life; life is full of struggles, battles, storms and trials! I love what Dr. Adrian Rogers said about living here on this ball of clay that we call Earth, “We have 3 problems: Sin, Sorrow, and Death!” Dr. Rogers was absolutely correct! Think about it, all of us can say, “amen,” to these, because every one of us has been affected by them! We are in a battle! Satan is attacking us, from every angle, and using every method conceivable! I am a Clint Eastwood fan, and one of the standout movies that he starred in was “The Outlaw Josie Wales!” He and his companions were in a shack, waiting for the anticipated assault by the band of ruthless renegades that were approaching. The defining moment was when Eastwood told his buddies that they had to believe that they would win because “if you quit you neither win nor live!” Does this remind you of the paramount importance of Faith? Our Faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, assures our victory over the struggles and challenges of this life! If we are to be “Overcomers,” we must walk in Faith, believing that His plan, His Power, His Provision will provide our ability to be “Victorious” in living, here and now! Our Faith is vital for our survival as we live our daily lives! Do you realize that Jesus will never fail us? He has provided the ability for us to overcome anything that comes our way, including death! One of my favorite songs, performed by the Cathedral Quartet, is the song, “Champion of Love!” “Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention? I want to introduce to you, In this corner of the good and the right, stands a champion robed in white. His height exceeds the heavens, His weight outweighs the world. His reach reaches everywhere, His age is evermore He is higher than the highest, greater than the great. No one will ever take His crown away. He's more mighty than the mightiest, He reigns from above. He's the all-time undisputed, undefeated champion, of love. He left His hometown to enter this arena, to raise His hands in victory for me. An angry crowd crucified this king who wore their crown, as they gladly watched the champion going down. Oh but I will never count Him out, for I'm a witness of The day He rose to reclaim the title "Champion of Love!" He is higher than the highest, greater than the great. No one will ever take His crown away. He's more mighty than the mightiest, He reigns from above. He is higher than the highest, greater than the great. No one will ever take His crown away. He's more mighty than the mightiest, He reigns from above. He's the all-time undisputed, undefeated champion, the all-time undisputed, undefeated champion, the all-time undisputed, undefeated champion, Of Love, Of Love!!” Friends, when we place our Faith in the “UNDISPUTED, UNDEFEATED CHAMPION OF LOVE,” who is our source for overcoming, we have Victory, and in His presence and in His Power, we are, FOREVER made “OVERCOMERS!” So, replace your “Fear with Faith,” Your “Sorrow with Comfort,” and “Claim Your Position as AN OVERCOMER!” Regardless of the world’s struggles, we have Victory! So, LIVE LIKE OVERCOMERS!!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
