December 10 “Part-Time Christianity?” Matthew 6:24
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24)
A sign was posted on the window of a local business that read, “HELP WANTED: PART TIME.” We all realize the meaning of this offer. There is a job available, yet it will not require full time service. Sadly, we Christians sometimes think that our commitment to God and our service to Him is actually a PART-TIME GIG! Consider what would happen if you were involved in a part time marriage or a part time friendship or a part time personal hygiene commitment. You see, to be loyal to God, on a part time basis is to be disloyal at the other times. We have to choose and commit ourselves to serve one master and let go of the other! When I think about successful relationships, I clearly see one characteristic that is the main ingredient of all of these relationships: LOYALTY! Folks, we will not survive with a divided heart, a divided loyalty! So, let’s be clear, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us, does not want our part time loyalty!!! Anything less than a fully surrendered and committed life, is not what He desires. WE MAKE A CHOICE EVERY DAY OF OUR LIVES! WE HAVE TO GET THIS ONE THING RIGHT! THE STAKES ARE ETERNALLY AND FOREVER TOO HIGH TO GET IT WRONG! Our prayer, each day of our lives, should be, “Lord, help me to remember who is in charge and who I serve. Protect my heart and keep me close and guide me by Your Grace, Mercy and Power!” What God does with you is up to you! It always has and it always will! Who are you serving, God or Mammon? Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
