May 26 “It’s Me, O Lord” Psalm 18: 1-6 (NIV)
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, BaptistTabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord. He sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: 1 I love you, Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. 4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction over-whelmed me. 5 The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. 6 In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” (Psalm 18:1-6)
Yesterday, I was watching a “round table” discussion, on the television, and the panel seemed confused as to where to go and how to proceed from this point, as it relates to the recovery from COVID19. As the conversation moved from person to person, no one had an answer to the questions presented. As I reflected on the challenges, I began to think about what Mama had always taught me; “Take it to God, He will fix it!” I wanted to shout at the TV, so that those people would understand that there is an answer, there is hope and that there is a plan. A little later in the day, as I sat down with my Bible, for my afternoon reading, and I came across a piece that Dr. Shelton Smith had written many years ago, that I have tucked into my Bible, and his words amplified and clarified what I had been thinking. The message from Dr. Smith is entitles: It’s Me, O Lord!
Remember this piece, “Not my brother, not my sister, but it’s me, O Lord, standing in the need of Prayer?” Simple, sincere and straightforward, it goes to the heart of all the needs of the day. When I hurt, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I’m burdened, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I’m disappointed, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I’m betrayed, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I can’t see my way clearly, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I have a crisis, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I want to serve, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I need wisdom, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I struggle to do right, “IT’S ME, O LORD.” When I can’t pay my bills, “IT’S ME, O LORD.”
Get the picture? Whatever the need, wherever the place, whenever the time, you and I are well advised to lift our voices to Heaven, humbly and hopefully, once again: “IT’S ME, O LORD!” Regardless of what we are experiencing right this minute, we can call on God for clarity, peace, provision and His power for our lives. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-9) God has got this present situation and anything else that will be coming! So, I choose to claim His promises, and expect His provision and “Keep on keeping on for Jesus!” How about you? Don’t forget: “IT’S ME, O LORD!” Stay Strong, Stay Focused… Remember, THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
