May 05, 2020 “SOMETHING EVERYONE HAS,
YET NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT – TROUBLE!” Job14:1
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble.” Job 14:1 (NIV)
Yesterday afternoon, I had the privilege to minister to a young man who was feeling pretty down on life, on himself and everyone else. He was laboring under the assumption that he should never have any problems or disruptions to his tranquil existence. I began to share with him the realities of living and he seemed to be “shocked” that I did not agree with his assessment of life. As we talked, I asked him if he could remember a time, in his life, where he was completely free of troubles and trials. His response was eye-opening to himself. He said that he could not remember a time when he was completely free of challenges. So, I simply ask why today should be any different. It seems that every one of us have said, at one time or other, “I can’t win for losing!” That is, we all have trouble that keeps on happening and seems to stop us from moving forward. Every time things seem to be going well, trouble comes along. We cannot live without trouble, so we need to learn to live with it and be victorious over it! Trouble is for certain! We wake up and expect that there will be fresh air to breath, food to eat, water to drink, etc. These are some of the things we must have for certain, but Job says there is something else we are going to have for certain. In Job 14:1, he clearly spells out what that is: “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble!” So, we know for certain that all of us have been born “Of a Woman,” therefore, we can expect trouble! Job 5:7 says, “Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.” It is ridiculous to think that we can have a fire and not have sparks! And it is just as ridiculous to think that we can have life and not have trouble. 2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” God says “ALL” that live godly have trouble. Do you think that Paul, Peter, John, Job and Abraham were able to live such wonderful lives was due to the fact that they never had the troubles that we have today? The difference between these men and ourselves, is that they learned how to live through the “good” times and the “bad” times alike, always giving praise and glory to God! As Christians we must show the world that we are overcomers. Troubles come, that is a fact. How we react is up to us! God has provided His Grace, His Mercy and His Guidance so that we can live above the circumstances as we go through the troubles of life! Most of us have not lived through such times as we are experiencing, however, as Christians, we have a glorious opportunity to show the world that God is in control, not just of the world, but of us , as well! I choose to Praise God and to cling to His promises! He promised that He would see us through and He did not place any caveats on this promise! So, I encourage you to claim His promises and recognize the reality of living and keep on keeping on! Keep moving forward! Look up my friend, God is in Control! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…Remember, THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
