June 2 “God’s Contingent Promises” John 1:12
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, BaptistTabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “But as many as received Him, to them gave he, power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name;” (John 1:12)
There are many scriptures in the Bible that tell us about God’s willingness to save. For example:
God has promised to save all that come unto Him, “…and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.”(John 6:37)
God has promised that all who receive Him could be saved, “But as many as received Him, to them gave he, power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.” (John 1:12)
God has promised to save everyone from the “guttermost to the uttermost,” In Isaiah 1:18 He says, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
God, over and over, tells us of His willingness to save all those who will come and receive Him, regardless of how deep they are in sin. God loves us enough that He sent Jesus to be our One, True and Final Blood Sacrifice for the Remission of our sins. He ascended to the Father and left the Holy Spirit to lead people to Christ. The Holy Spirit speaks to people about their sins and He inspires Christians to witness to sinners. He does all that is possible to lead folks to Christ. Listen to the story of Noah and see that his task was like that of the Holy Spirit. God told Noah that the Flood was coming. Noah preached and warned men to turn to God. He was ignored, and laughed at, but one day, Noah gave his last warning. Once again, he was pushed aside as a fool. God called Noah aside and told him to enter the Ark. Then the Flood waters broke loose and the laughing was over, the doomed, came running to the Ark. That old man that they had laughed at and called a fool, was now being sought after. They realized that he had been God’s messenger, but they had rejected Him and they were lost. When their seeking did no good, they realized that it was too late. God has sent the Holy Spirit into the world to lead people to Christ, but if they reject Him, there is no way He can lead them to the Son of God. Yes, we have heard much about God’s willingness to save those who are lost in sin. We know He will save all of those who will come and receive Him, regardless of what sins they have committed, however, make no mistake about it. This is one of God’s contingent promises. You can be saved, but first you must:
COME,
RECIEVE,
CONFESS,
REPENT,
BELIEVE.
