January 26 “I Shall Not Be Moved” Psalm 16:8
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” (Psalm 16:8)
Worldly events, political upheaval, conflicting opinions on the facts about the Coronavirus, have conspired to create much stress and discontent among, even, believers. If we focus on the earthly issues, it is easy to see how we would be stressed and shaken by current events. I am witnessing folks that are being “Shaken” by these worldly events and this is affecting their faith, their walk with Christ and their witness for Him. When we are so focused to the temporal that we lose sight of the eternal and our mission and responsibility to our Savior, we become “Shaken” and our vision becomes blurred. Folks, troubles will come, people will disappoint, Satan will attack and he is relentless and he is excited when you focus on the earthly and turn away from the eternal. How are we to survive in this hostile and evil world? We survive by setting our eyes on God, our eternal authority and our support. When we are focused on Jesus Christ, we need not be “Shaken.” Through the Holy Spirit, His strength will guide us, through His power, He will sustain us and we can survive the challenges of this life and stand strong and never be “Shaken” or Moved!!! I grew up hearing a song being sung by my mother, especially during difficult times. I find myself singing these same words when times get difficult, still today! “Glory hallelujah, I shall not be moved, Anchored in Jehovah, I shall not be moved. Just like the tree that's planted by the waters, I shall not be moved! In His love abiding, I shall not be moved, And in Him confiding, I shall not be moved. Just like the tree that's planted by the water, I shall not be moved! Though all Hell assail me, I shall not be moved, Jesus will not fail me, I shall not be moved. Just like the tree that's planted by the water, I shall not be moved. Though the tempest rages, I shall not be moved. On the rock of ages, I shall not be moved. Just like the tree that's planted by the water, I shall not be moved.” We can travel through this life, unshaken and unmovable, when we focus on Jesus and claim His sustaining power for our living. Storms will come and challenges will happen, yet, we can stand firm and strong, when we are claiming His promises and walking in His power and honoring His calling and doing what He requires! “Glory hallelujah, I shall not be moved, Anchored in Jehovah, I shall not be moved.” Regardless of the issues of the day, I choose to live for Jesus and to continue to be what He requires and to stay true to His commands, walking in His obedience AND KNOWING THAT “I SHALL NOT BE MOVED!!” How about you? Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
