February 21 The Proper Direction Psalm 119:59
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina…“I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.” (Psalm 119:59)
I have had the privilege to participate in a “Pastoral Encouragement and Support Group,” that has as its goal, the improvement of the Pastor’s Personal and Public ministry. Among the lessons is the fact that, as Pastors, we must understand and know the direction that we are going. A part of this, is to do a “True and Thorough” inspection of our inner selves. “Where are we going and how do we get there?” As I observe the “Church,” a question has come to me that is creating great concern in my heart. “Is the Church going in the right direction?” Now, I am not talking about a building or a denomination, I am talking about “Born-Again, Blood Bought Believers that make up the “Church of the Lord Jesus Christ!” It is obvious that this World is traveling in the wrong direction! I find myself, traveling in the wrong direction and the Holy Spirit corrects and redirects my paths! Every one of us, are on a journey through this life and it is absolutely critical that we know the direction that we are moving. Our direction requires concentrated efforts and a real and true assessment of where we are and where we are going! We have got to take time to be “Quiet” and to ask, “Where is this path taking me?” When we realize that we are walking in the wrong direction, we can make a correction in our direction. In my personal prayer time and in my Bible Study, I am constantly asking if I am doing what is right an am I headed in the proper direction. Folks, the key to the proper direction for your life is not in the world’s assessment, but in the “Testimonies of God!” Our only consideration must be, “Is this path that I AM FOLLOWING, EDIFYING to GOD and a WITNESS to THIS LOST WORLD? I am grateful for God’s unfailing Love and the fact that HE never gives up on us! So many times, in my life, I have been headed in the wrong direction and the Precious Holy Spirit has provided guidance and a Bright Light that I could see the error of my ways and He restores me and moves me back in the proper direction! Praise God!! Through these uncertain and chaotic times, with Evil at every turn, I am excited and grateful that MY GOD will show me the Way that I should go, and grant me the wisdom and joy of HIS PRESENCE and the pleasures of living with HIM and moving in the proper direction! Please, stop and do a true and honest evaluation of where you are headed, and ask God to make the necessary corrections in your life. Let’s do what the Psalmist did… “I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.” Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
