April 12 “Even So, Come, Lord Jesus” Revelation 22:20
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20)
I heard my daddy tell a story, many years ago, about a Father and his son and it went like this: “There was a father whose business took him away from home for weeks and sometimes for months at a time. One day, as he was leaving, his little boy asked him, ‘When will you come back, Daddy?’ He replied, ‘When you see the green leaves on the trees turning yellow and red and brown, you may know that I am coming soon!’ The little boy couldn’t understand dates, but he could see the changes in color of the leaves. When he saw the leaves put on their dresses of yellow, red and brown, he was very happy, for he knew his daddy’s coming was near!” Jesus said something similar to this in Luke 21:28, “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Every Bible believer cannot help but believe that we are living in the days when the “leaves are yellow, red and brown.” I believe that this is the day, when, at any time, Christ may appear. I believe that we are living in a day that, if we are going to do anything for Christ—We need to do it now! I also believe that we need to look for opportunities to serve Him. If we truly believe that His return is soon, we need to be concerned about the “Lost” ones around us. I believe that we need to lay aside anything that would hinder us from proclaiming the “Love of God, and His saving Grace through Jesus Christ!” We can do like the Ostrich and bury our head in the sand, but that will not change the truth. We would be wise to listen to the words of Matthew 24:32-33; “Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors!” Listen to a poem that is so appropriate: “If Christ Should Come Next Sunday” “If Christ should come next Sunday, and it may be that He will, would the thing that I’ll be doing, set the Master’s heart a thrill? If Christ should come next Sunday, would He find me loyal and true and in my place with my influence, doing what he’d have me to do? If Christ should come next Sunday, let’s suppose He came at Ten, would He hear me answer ‘Present,’ in the class I should attend? If THE CHRIST should come next Sunday, if He came just at Eleven, would He find me in His service, singing His praises unto Heaven?” (Author Unknown)… If you are looking for His soon return, you will be found doing what He has called you to do, regardless of the situation and regardless of the circumstances! This present COVID19 situation will end, but God’s love and mercy will not! Praise God! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…Remember, THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
