Good Morning and welcome to our BTC Daily Devotions. I am Wayne Batten, please forgive me for missing last Thursday’s devotion.
Those who have known me since childhood, know I was raised on the farm. I tell people I went to NC State to “Get Away From The Farm.” Isn’t that a Laugh. I have worked with farmers my entire career and continue to do so in my retirement years. Have you ever thought about the faith of farmers? How challenging is it to spend thousands of dollars on seeds, fertilizers, and chemicals, only to put it all into the ground and Hope and Pray it all comes up and makes a profit? What does the Bible say about Farmers?
I have borrowed some of this message from Successful Farming Magazine because I think it hits the nail on the head.
1. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land. – Deuteronomy 28:8
2. But I will bless the person who puts his trust in me. He is like a tree growing near a stream and sending out roots to the water. It is not afraid when hot weather comes, because its leaves stay green; it has no worries when there is no rain; it keeps on bearing fruit. – Jeremiah 17:7-8
3. The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. –Deuteronomy 28:12
4. Be sure you know the conditions of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations. – Proverbs 27:34-35
5. Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. – Ecclesiastes11:4
What crop are we growing? This past Saturday we had our Evangelism Block Party for children in the area. Over 64 children attended. They heard a brief message about Salvation and then had a chance to play in a safe and spiritual setting. Parents were extremely pleased to see what we are doing for the community.
Some of our own children were instrumental in sharing the word of God with the visitors. We had our Sunday Children’s Church Crafts on display at the balloon twisting tent and were able to share our stories of Moses from the Cradle up to the current lessons on King David. I hope our faith in planting and preparing for these young children will be as strong as a Farmers Faith in planting their crops.
