Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that you have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.” (John 17:23)
This passage of scripture is often referred to as Jesus’ Intercessory Prayer to the Father, for all of us! Much of the ministry of Jesus was about “unity’ among the believers! During the Roman times, the emperor tried to unite people, through strength and conquest! Once the died, the unity would crumble. Praise God! Jesus has brought a different kind of Unity! Even after His Death, Burial and Resurrection, the message of unity and of love, is still changing lives! Here is the key to Human Unity! “I in them, and You in Me…” We are made “perfect” (this does not mean that we are without flaws and issues) in one…In one God, one Son, one Holy Spirit! When our lives and our hearts are tuned to Christ and we are following His Guidance, then we will find ourselves drawn towards His unifying Power! Listen, being “One in Jesus” does not mean that we become “Cookie Cutter” copies of each other! We are unique in our experiences and our talents and our abilities, yet through the Blood of Jesus we have a “Common” purpose, and we are to “Love” one another and this “Love” promotes our “Unity in the Spirit!” Paul told us that we were Free to be ourselves, yet in everything that we do, we must glorify God and Honor the sacrifice and love of Jesus Christ! I recognize that, as humans, with human imperfections, we tend to disappoint and fall short of our intended purpose, yet God has provided the means and method in which we are to remain in “Unity,” and that is being “Covered by the Redeeming Blood of Jesus!” Friends, this old world is watching to see if Jesus is real, in our lives, and if He really makes a difference in the way that we conduct our lives! We do not have to agree on everything; however, we must agree on ONE THING! We must agree that Jesus Christ is the UNIFYING ELEMENT that binds us together in one mind and one accord! The KEY to Unity is HIS LOVE! This LOVE must be in us, with us, around us and to consume us! Our thoughts, actions, words, and every existence must reflect His Great Love! Please Lord, make me like YOU! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
