May 27 “HIS Will or Ours” Acts 3:19
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” (Acts 3:19)
The clear and unmistakable fact is that becoming a Christian is a “Once-For-All” event! We repent of our sins, and present ourselves before Christ, for His Salvation and Cleansing! At that moment, we are converted into His Grace! I love the way in which 1 Peter 2:9 describes the journey to salvation: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” The Reality of our Christianity is that it is a daily, on-going growing experience and it is a life-time commitment to daily repentance and faithful exercise of our calling. We are to grow in Faith and to turn away from sin and to ask the Holy Spirit to teach us, guide us, correct us and to sustain us, as we travel through this life! Sounds relatively easy, doesn’t it? Well, there is the issue of our “Will!” Here we are, converted, Christ living in us, yet that “Old Nature” is still very much alive and working within our beings! This “Old Nature” demands that we place ourselves first, and not God! It is a difficult task to bring this “Old Nature” into subjection, but when we do, we begin to experience the harmony, peace, and joy that God intends for us to enjoy! I am excited that the “serenity” of His Presence, dominates my life and that I can experience His Grace in Action! Who is in control of your life and living? Walk in His Light and turn from the Darkness of this World!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
