June 16 “Father’s Day 2024” 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.” (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12)
This is the 33rd Father’s Day since my dear Daddy went home to be with Jesus. It is amazing that I remember every one of the exhortations, instructions and directions that he provided for me in our short time together! Daddy had some real challenges that formulated and molded his life, and he was determined that I would have a foundation that was stable and allowed for steady and maturing growth, both physically and spiritually! Daddy would teach, daily, to stay focused on what God has called you to be and to not let anyone or anything sway my commitment. As the scripture declares today, that we “Should Walk Worthy of God Who Calls You…” I miss my Daddy, but the reality of his presence and his wisdom and his instructions and his “dogged determination” is before me, every single day! Thank you, Daddy, for being an example of the Power of God to change and sustain us, and to become what HE would have us be! I am the Daddy, Granddaddy, that I am today, because of the amazing and gifted man that I called “Daddy!” Take a moment on this day of national recognition, to reach out to your Daddy and to Thank him for his guidance and love! If your Daddy has gone on, then take a moment to honor him by remembering those wonderful “Life’s Lessons” that he provided! THANK – YOU DADDY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused … THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
