March 4 Come unto Me… Matthew 11:28-30
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
“Is she doing her job?” “What are we paying him to do?” “They need to do it this way!” “When I was at church “A,” we did it this way!” “Why don’t they do this once in a while?” “What are you doing to stop them from creating this mess?” “If things don’t change, then I am leaving this church!” “Preacher, you are the head of this church, and you are not doing your job, because, if you were, then this mess wouldn’t be happening!” “When is the music going to change here? I think that we should have some music that the young folks would like.” Can you imagine anyone saying these things to anyone? Would you suppose that the motivation was righteous and edifying to the Body of Christ? When I hear these things, and a great deal more, I am amazed at the idea that God’s Righteousness is opinion based! “In my opinion, we should be doing it this way!” Every one of us have challenges and difficulties in our human journey, and the fellowship among believers should be a “Safe-Space” that encourages and uplifts and causes us to be secure in our Spiritual Walk, and provides a foundation for growth and encouragement! Yes, even your Pastor can get a bit weary and frustrated when individuals, motivated by personal bias and opinions, and not the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit, create issues that ought not to be, and then, the pastor is supposed to miraculously make the issues go away! IF YOU ARE NOT WALKING IN THE “NEWNESS” OF LIFE AND YOUR ACTIONS AND WORDS ARE NOT INDICATING A CHANGE IN YOU, THEN IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO DROP TO YOUR KNEES, CONFESS YOUR SINS, AND BY FAITH, RECEIVE THE FORGIVENSS OF JESUS CHRIST, SO THAT YOU WILL BE A WITNESS YOUR HIM AND NOT YOUR OWN NARROW HUMAN OPINION! Every one of us encounters irritations, frustrations, challenges and tribulations, but we have a beautiful and powerful solution to the ills of humanity. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Regardless of the challenges, I continue to Look to God for His Grace and Comfort! I know that you are going through some rough times, and I encourage you to Seek God, Claim His Promise of Rest, and Enjoy His Presence and Power to Overcome! Psalm 46:10 declares that we should “Be still, and know that I am God…” Get Still and Get right with God! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
