Let me begin by saying, "Praise God" that we didn't lose power during this round of winter weather. Annette had to work this weekend and driving was going to be difficult and dangerous, so I secured a motel room for her, in Raleigh, near the hospital, to reduce her exposure to the dangers of driving. She left around 3 pm on Friday, and returned Sunday evening. Still not feeling well, I was home alone for 2 days. With the exception of the children coming by to play in the snow, I was by myself. Initially, this was good. After an hour, not so good. I read, watched TV, wrote cards (that filled about 30 minutes). Is there an " up" side? Yes, knowing me and knowing my tendency to be busy, this weather and the fact that I felt so bad, caused me to simply be still and rest. Thank you God, for allowing me to heal and be still..."Be still and know that I am God!" I look forward to being up and running really soon! From one cabin captive to another...God Bless You!
What to do when you are unable to speak without coughing?
According to the Health Care Professional at FastMed yesterday, I am experiencing Bronchitis and a secondary infection. This present malady is responsible for my inability to talk without coughing. Annette is excited about my verbal silence, however, the constant hacking of the cough has replaced my words. What to do? I have read the Book of Matthew 3 times ( hint, hint... Growing in Jesus class), have read the entire Book of Proverbs, and will probably finish Lewis Grizzard's last book, "It Wasn't Always Easy, but I Sure Had Fun." I am assured that I will feel better soon... Just do not seem to be able to find "soon" on my calendar. Please pray for me as you pray and read, read, read. Hope you do not have to be sick to be motivated to do it! REMEMBER - THE BEST IS YET TO BE!!!
Pastor Glen's Postings
Happy New Year! 2017 promises to be an amazing year. A brand new set of possibilities are opened before us! As you make "resolutions" for this new year, make sure to include your spiritual needs, as well. On Wednesday night, at the last Prayer Meeting of 2016, I challenged each one there, to read one chapter of Proverbs each day. This book is full of the wisdom of Solomon, and contains every detail needed to live our lives fully resolved to being what God intends us to be! Remember...THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

SOAP Study
What is S.O.A.P.?
S.O.A.P. stands for Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer. It is a way of getting more out of your time in God's word. We did not invent it, we just decided to make a website to make it easier to do.
How does it work?
It's quite simple. When you sit for your daily quiet time read the bible as you normally would with one simple difference. Underline or make note of any verses that jump out at you with special significance. This is the basis for diving deeper and using S.O.A.P.
Now comes the cool part. Login and create a new SOAP entry. There are four fields to fill in and I bet you can guess what they are:
Scripture Type in the verse or verses that stuck out to you in your reading. You can show the verses and even have them read to you with the click of a button. No copying and pasting blocks of text.
Observation What did you observe about the scripture that struck you. This can be one sentence or a whole book.
Application How can you apply the observation so that it affects your life today.
Prayer Write out a prayer to God based on what you just learned and ask him to help you apply this truth in your life.
