***Due to the rise in COVID19 related illnesses, we are strongly encouraging the use of Masks, within the sanctuary, and to continue to observe “Social Distancing.” Together, with a faithful reliance on God, we will overcome this present challenge!!***
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:” (1 John 5:14)
Many believers have been deceived into thinking that God is some type of “Genie” that pops up to grant our wishes and to answer our slightest whims of the flesh that might arise, at that moment! Pay Attention! This IS NOT TRUE! Our God does hear our prayers and He does answer our petitions that are “according to His Will!” Real Prayer does not consist of our selfish wishes and our human desires! Real Prayer is praying, “according to His Will!” This is achieved when we recognize that God wants to, and will, reveal His Will to us! The fact is that God reveals His Will to us when we are studying His Word and growing in our relationship with Him. And the most important component is to allow the HOLY SPIRIT to guide you, and to teach you about HIS WILL! When we doubt His Will, just ask the Holy Spirit for direction and discernment! Listen, when we know the Will of God, then we can approach His Throne with confidence and boldness! When we know the Will of God, in any matter that we face, we can freely and boldly come into His Presence, and we can be assured that He will Hear us and that He will Answer us! I pray that you are walking in obedience and growing in His Grace and embracing the promise of the “Comforter,” to teach, guide, reveal and to empower our living. Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

January 27 “The Great Rescue Mission” 1 Timothy 2:3-4
ANNOUNCEMENT: Baptist Tabernacle Church will be 100 years old, in 2022. A grand celebration is planned for May 22, 2022, to commemorate the first service as an organized church body! Special information, recognitions, God’s Word, and a catered meal will be a part of the celebration. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the festivities.
***Due to the rise in COVID19 related illnesses, we are strongly encouraging the use of Masks, within the sanctuary, and to continue to observe “Social Distancing.” Together, with a faithful reliance on God, we will overcome this present challenge!!***
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:3-4)
There is a great rescue mission underway, with the express purpose to save and redeem a lost and dying world! The FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT have come together to “rescue the perishing!” This rescue mission was planned by the FATHER, the SON accomplished it, and the HOLY SPIRIT draws and convicts and is the bright light that illuminates a dark and dismal heart and makes aware the need for the redeeming Grace of God, through the SON, Jesus Christ! To every one of us that has been “born-again,” “saved by His Grace,” have a responsibility to embrace the mission and to be about the business of sharing the “Good News!” Reality Check: WE ARE HIS MESSENGERS! We have everything that we need to present the “Gospel,” and to do it with “Boldness!” There is a harsh reality that has taken me some time to embrace! Not everybody will be “Saved!” It is God’s will that all be saved, yet the reality is clear! God does not want anyone to perish and spend eternity in the fires of Hell, yet there will be those that will not accept Him! I feel a passion to share the Gospel and to make every effort to make a difference in the lives of as many as possible! This process, this mission begins with prayer! “Lord, teach me to share with Your Power and Grace and Compassion! Please give me a heart that wants to see others saved. Lord, help me to never be complacent in my Faith Journey and help me to be Bold in my witness for You! Thank you for the privilege of experiencing Your Saving Grace and the opportunity to share it with others!” Are you grateful? Are you ready to share the Good News? Are you surrendered to His Will and recognize the responsibility as a Believer? Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
January 26 Plan with Assurance Isaiah 8:17
ANNOUNCEMENT: Baptist Tabernacle Church will be 100 years old, in 2022. A grand celebration is planned for May 22, 2022, to commemorate the first service as an organized church body! Special information, recognitions, God’s Word, and a catered meal will be a part of the celebration. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the festivities.

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.” (Isaiah 8:17)
Planning is essential for a successful endeavor! Crossing the “T’s” and dotting the “I’s” is a part of the efficient plan! Every wedding that I have performed, everyone, has been a lesson in efficient and coordinated planning, yet what I tell the couples, is a fact: “Do not get upset when something goes wrong and conflicts with your plan, because it is going to happen!” It reminds me of planning a trip or vacation, as the itinerary is created and the sites and places are determined, down to the very minute, yet every time, that unknown and uncontrollable and unplanned, will rear its head and all our plans stop! Readjusting must occur! My Annette is the best at planning and coordinating our family trips and vacations! She makes sure that everything is timed perfectly, however, she factors into the “Perfect” planning, the fact that there will always be that unknown element that will occur, so she builds into the plans, a little “wiggle room,” to accommodate the inevitable! I think about Christians, and our tendency to make up our plans and our minds without consulting the Master! What happens when the realities of Life alter our minds and our plans? According to the Bible, the Master is ready, willing and able to hear us and to direct us and to help us and to empower us and to help us avoid the challenges that we will, inevitably face! A lot od words to simply say this: Seek the Lord in all that you do! When you think that you have it under control, seek Him! Seek His guidance and approval! Remember, do not plan, and then ask God to approve your planning. He needs to be involved in the process! What God does with you is up to you…It always has, and it always will! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
January 25 “Here I am Lord, Send Me!” Isaiah 6:8
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
In Isaiah 6, God has called Isaiah as a prophet, and he is sharing his prophetic vision and he is willing to embrace the calling and go to the people that have become “fat and dull of hearing and are living in sin!” One of the things that has always attracted me to the Baptist Denomination, is our commitment to missions. We participate in State, National, and international missions, to share the Good News with “all nations!” I believe that we should commit our time, talents, and resources to assisting and encouraging these endeavors and we should commit these efforts to prayer. I have always respected and admired and encouraged missionaries that travel to foreign lands, to bring the Gospel to the world. Not everyone can be a “Foreign” missionary, however, we can be a “Missionary” right where we are, at this moment! Amazingly, mission work is going on and many don’t even know it. Specifically, at Baptist Tabernacle, what started as a “Youth” fundraiser, to defer the cost of attending Summer Camp, has become a mission field! The “Missions Marketplace” has become as outreach into the community and the resources are being put back into the community. It is fascinating that the community, at large, recognize the mission, and support the causes that we target. Missions occurs everywhere that we are! Just recently, I felt a strong sense of guilt, in that I have failed to “Evangelize” the folks that are next to the church. So, I have begun a “Missions” project, to reach out to the neighbors of the church and to open a relationship, with the purpose of sharing the “Good News!” Remember, our Mission Field is right where we are, at any given moment! Guess what? The widow that is homebound, or the neighbor that is struggling to continue to maintain their yard, or the clerk at the gas station or the cashier at the Walmart, or the person in line to check out at Walgreens, or your neighbor that needs a “kind” word of encouragement! As I “Preach” about “Evangelism.” We must recognize our duty, our responsibility, our calling, our purpose! “Here I am Lord, SEND ME!” Our life, Our Purpose, is more than just getting by…WE MUST BE ABOUT THE FATHER’S BUSINESS! Do you realize that there are people, right here, right now, that have not heard the “Good News,” and are on their way to “Hell?” I am embracing the Call; I am exercising the mission and I refuse to allow one single soul to be denied the presentation of the “Good News!” What they do with it is their business! I commit to be about my Father’s Business of “SAVING US FROM HELL!” I pray that our question, each day, will be, “What are you calling me to do today, Lord?” Empower me Lord, through the Holy Spirit, whatever my mission – I am assured that I can accomplish it, here and now, today, because of Your Grace and Love and Your Divine touch on my life. Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
January 24 Be Positive Proverbs 6:2

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.” (Proverbs 6:2)
This world is a negative place, and we are products of this environment! Think about this… “I ain’t got, but one,” or “I only have one.” We have a tendency, in our words and actions to have a default position of negativity. Recently, I was reading a book about our patterns of speech and the way in which we interact with others. It has prompted me to be aware of my own speech patterns and my choice of words. Dear friends, we have a responsibility to represent the Good News, in a positive and clear fashion, and we need to pay attention to the way that we speak. I will tell you that I have been amazed at the way that I express myself. I have always been a positive, “Glass Half Full” type of person, yet I have come to realize that I speak from a position that is “negative!” I believe that Jesus recognized this human issue and He spoke to “renewing of our minds,” as a way of moving us from a “negative world view,” into a positive, “Holy Spirit Guided” eternal viewpoint. In Philippians 4:8, we are instructed to control our thoughts, therefore, our words and actions… “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” What we think and how we think, will determine how we speak! Our Savior wants our words to be true and revealing and positive and edifying to Him. Attitude, Aptitude, Abilities, Action…We are called to have a POSITIVE ATTITUDE – We are called to STUDY to PREPARE OURSELVES for the TASK – We are called to UTILIZE every RESOURCE available to us, to HONOR OUR CALLING – We are called to put our ATTITUDE, Our APTITUDE, Our ABILITIES into POSITIVE ACTION for HIM! As I continue the call to EVANGELISM, and as I grow in His Grace, I am becoming aware of areas in my own life that I need to surrender to Him. True and effective Evangelism is Personal and Life-style Evangelism…Sharing Your Own Experiences with our Savior and allowing others to see themselves experiencing the same amazing results! I am praying that my words will be positive, and my actions will match my words and my attitude will reflect His Love and my dedication to being the best that I can be, through the Holy Spirit, that I can be! Hoe about you? Be Positive, Be Strong, Be Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:22)
“I am too busy!” This statement is often the response that we give to those who would need our assistance. Personally, I have used this to avoid involvement in situations that were unpleasant. Amazingly, in 21st Century America, I believe that we are so busy that we miss the opportunities to serve and to make a true and lasting difference! There was a time, not so many years ago, that I equated “Busy” and “Activities” of the Church, with serving God. Daddy used to warn me about misdirected activities that I would deem as service. He would say, “Son, you can be busy digging a ditch with a spoon. You exert a lot of effort with very little results!” Are we allowing our “Busy” activities to get in the way of “Real and Lasting Ministry” to others? I continue to ask God to help me determine what is “Busy,” and what is truly productive! May we continue to “Get Involved” in the lives of others and may we continue to make a difference in where others will spend “Eternity!” BE ABOUT THE FATHER’S BUSINESS; and learn to discern between “Busy” and “Productive!” May we never be too busy to make a difference! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
January 22 Lifestyle Evangelism Mark 16:15-16
SNOW, SNOW, SNOW… 3.5 INCHES AT MY HOUSE

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16)
The idea of evangelism has always been terrifying to me. Going up to someone and interrupting their day to tell them about Jesus, no matter how real and good I know him to be, has never been comfortable for me. But you can’t read Scripture and avoid, God’s command to share the gospel. You can’t read through the New Testament and discount the reality that the disciples gave themselves entirely—to the point of death—that the world might come to know Jesus. In verses like Mark 16:15-16 couldn’t be clearer. Jesus commands us, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Evangelism is meant to be a part of our normal lives. It’s not just for the few. It’s not just for pastors or the deacons or Sunday School teachers or the intensely extroverted and outgoing…It’s for you and me!! When I examine my own heart, I discover that my fears related to evangelism are entirely selfish. In fact, I don’t know if I could do something more selfish than hold back the one hope for the world just to protect my own image. Listen, even as a preacher, I still have the human emotional “Shy Natured” thoughts that conflict with my responsibilities and my calling! Do you understand what Jesus is making crystal clear in Mark 16:16? He has said that those who don’t believe in Him will be condemned. It’s like I know the cure for COVID19 and rather than sacrificing my image to love others by sharing the cure, I just let everyone continue to suffer. In examining my own heart, I realize that the way to engage in evangelism isn’t fixing myself; it’s getting over myself. Is my image really so important that it’s worth condemnation for another? Are the opinions of others, really so important to me, that I would withhold from them eternal, abundant life with a God who loves them relentlessly and perfectly? I am made to share God’s light. I have been commissioned by my King to go out and share his heart. It’s time that we obey God’s command in Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” Sure, people might think I’m weird, strange, or twisted. In, reality, folks probably think that already! Sure; it might be a little awkward. But God is after the hearts of his creation, and he’s called me to help. May we be those who set aside our pride, seek humility, and love others whatever the cost. May we be so bold as to set our eyes on heaven and sacrifice this life for the sake of eternity. And may the world change around us as we humbly and courageously proclaim the goodness of our heavenly Father. Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being…For we are also His offspring.” (Acts 17:28)
Being concerned for your children is a “right of passage,” for a parent! I know that I am still concerned about our child and her family. Years ago, for a brief time, I, personally, had a rebellion moment. I rejected the sage advice and counsel of my Daddy, and I struck out on my own. Well, I encountered obstacle after obstacle and I fell MANY times, yet I picked myself up and kept on going! I made decisions that Daddy did not agree with, and he told me that he was upset with me. I asked him, “Do you love me? Then trust me!” As time went on, Daddy began to see that I was doing “OK!” He and Mama came for a visit, and he told me that he was proud of me. Amazingly, I had accomplished what I had set out to do, without any direct help for him. Please be aware that 20 years of learning from this man, and watching him grow, isn’t something that you forget, so he, actually, did have a strong and lasting effect on my ability to survive on my own. We were standing on my front porch, and I looked at him and said to him, “Daddy, thank you for loving me and giving me up to try it on my own, but not giving up on me!” My Christian journey has been littered with falls and missteps and errors and hurts and sorrows, yet HE has never, ever, given up on me! As a Child of God, I am grateful for His Love, His Grace, through Jesus Christ, and for His sustaining Power to lead me and teach me and to allow me to grow into what He would have me to be! Remember, “Life is a process, not an event!” How about you! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” (Philippians 4:11)
Growing up around some proper Southern Ladies, I learned, the hard way, that a “Gentleman never ask a Lady her age, and a Lady never tells!” There was a particular lady, in our community, that refused to accept or reveal her true age. She was offended by the aging process and if someone, who was ignorant of her disdain, were to ask her age, she would usually respond with a loud and sharp, “Mind Your Own Business!” Paul reminds us to be content in whatever state that we find ourselves. For me, “Thirty was Tremendous,” “Forty was Fabulous,” “Fifty was Fast & Furious,” and to be Sixty-Five, and still being alive is fantastic! Life has been busy and amazingly full, for me! I am excited about what is to come! Every day that God allows me to continue to live, I want to make a difference for Him! The Roman Philosopher Seneca said, “Let us cherish and love old age: for it is full of pleasure, if one knows how to use it…” As a fan of Robert Browning, I shared these words with Annette, almost 39 years ago: “Come grow old with me! The best is yet to be!” Praise God! As Born-Again Christians, we have a responsibility to serve Him with gladness, regardless of our age! Remember the words of John 10:10: “I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more ABUNDANTLY.” God willing…I can hardly wait until my Seventies! Please Lord, let me concentrate on serving you and not the length of time that I have lived, or might live! TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
Several years ago, we went on a bus trip and the inevitable happened! There was one lady that complained about everything. Her seat was uncomfortable, her seat mate was too large for the seat, the bus was too noisy. She was generally disagreeable and made the trip unpleasant for everyone. Finally, I pulled her to the side and asked her to stop being so disagreeable. I explained that she was creating an atmosphere that was not good! Wow! She was shocked that I had spoken to her in this manner. She really didn’t realize that she was such a “Negative Nelly!” We continued our journey, and she did stop being so negative, or at least, didn’t verbalize her displeasure. As I thought about this experience, I understood the call for unity. How miserable it is when one is disagreeable, and how pleasant it is when one is enjoyable and agreeable! Folks, God expects us to live in unity with our fellow believers. Keep in mind, we are not expected to be “Cookie Cutter” Christians who agree on everything! Reality Check: There is a huge difference between UNITY and UNIFORMITY! My Daddy used to say that you could tie two Tom cat’s tails together and have UNION, but you would not have UNITY! Every believer has unique talents, opinions, thoughts, and actions, yet we, under the Blood of Jesus, are to be “Like-Minded” as we serve our Savior! Our politics, our preferences, our dislikes, our desires, must take second place to our commitment to Christ! Our lives should reflect HIS Love, and our ACTIONS should echo HIS Words, and Our behaviors must edify HIM! God loves it when His children “dwell together in unity!” We are to function the way that God intends, and we must be ready and willing to yield our rights and opinions, on occasion, and be quick to give and to receive forgiveness and, then we can “Dwell in Unity! It is so easy to get tangled up in the thoughts of this world, however, as children of God, we must remain “Heart – Centered” on God and forget our petty human irritations and focus on HIM! I am counting on HIS UNCHANGING AND MATCHLESS GRACE to sustain me and guide me and to teach me how to “Dwell in Unity!” Stay Strong, STAY FOCUSED…THE BEST IS ABSOLUTELY AND WITHOUT A DOUBT, YET TO BE!
