Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

Bill Gaither wrote a beautiful song that declares a truth! The sone is, Jesus Is Coming Soon! The lyrics are inspiring; when it says, “Troublesome times are here, filling men's hearts with fear. Freedom we all hold dear now is at stake! Humbling your hearts to God, saves from the chastening rod. Seek the way pilgrims trod, Christians awake!” Troubles and trials are here among us! Fear is the weapon of Satan, as he moves about, attempting to destroy our hope and our faith! I am here to tell you that we have nothing to fear! Jesus told His disciples that He would be leaving them, and He left these words of Hope and Comfort! “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” I encourage you to claim the promises of 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” We need to Humble, Pray, Seek, Turn, and He will Hear, Forgive, and Heal! In the face of these worldly challenges, “Let not your heart be troubled!” Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

The “Fishin” Spot

**Tonight, is Prayer Meeting – “Pie Night Fellowship.” We are meeting on Tuesday Night, instead of Wednesday Night, this week! Ya’ll come, bring your favorite dessert, and enjoy the fellowship… **

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.”  (2 Corinthians 11:3)

Wow! Listening to the news of the day and having experienced the issues of human deceptions and conflicts, I sit and reflect on the Reason that Jesus came to earth! God loves us enough that He sent Jesus to be the One True and Last Sacrifice for our sins! Keep in mind, not everyone recognizes His Love, His Mission, and His Atoning Grace! I would like to share a story, from my youth, that illustrates the necessity and the reality of staying true to your mission and to be faithful, regardless of the challenges that occur! When I was a boy, I “LOVED” to fish! There was a particular spot, along the banks of the Neuse River that was my favorite place to fish. It was called, “Spring Bank!” It seemed that this special place was where the fish would congregate, and I fished this special spot, as often as I could. From early spring, until early winter, I was there, at least 3 times a week. I would grab my fishing poles, let Mama know where I was headed, or at least in the general direction, and away I would go! Oh yeah, I failed to tell you why the fishing was so good! This Special Place, My Place, where the fishing was great, was, also, the same spot that the snakes, thought was a special place for them. No one else would fish the spot because of the snakes! Now, let me paint the picture for you! I would sit in my wallowed-out spot on the bank, against a big Water Oak Tree, and I had my cane pole, for fishing, and my shorter cane pole for “snaking!” Imagine me sitting on the bank, with my line in the water, and I am watching the cork and watching for snakes. (Did I mention that the snakes were on the bank and in the trees and in the water… they were everywhere! I remember counting 31 snakes on one fishing trip…) With my shorter cane pole, I would hit the snakes while pulling in the fish. Keep in mind, this type of fishing was not for the weak of heart or one that might have a fear, of the obstacles (snakes). July and August, the snakes were more aggressive, and it required more concentration to not be a victim. Why this story today? I truly believe that we are, in the midst, of Satanic deceptions, just like Eve experienced, in the Garden of Eden and we must be aware and prepared for the deceptions. Evil exists on every side and Satan wants to keep us from “Fishing!” That is, he wants us to fail as “Fishers of Men!” When I was a boy, Daddy would warn me about playing in the tall weeds and grass! “Watch out for the snakes!” Notice that he didn’t say, “Watch out, there MAY be snakes!” The fact is that snakes are in the grass and snakes are everywhere that me step! Dear Friends, we are living in “Snake-Filled” times, with obstacles and deceptions at every turn, so, I am asking you to recognize the environment and prepare for the challenge and armor up for the on-going battle! WE MUST be AWARE of the SNAKES and be prepared to deal with them and to NEVER let them STOP us from our MISSION to be TRUE and EFFECTIVE “FISHERS OF MEN!” By the Way… we ate lots and lots of fresh fish! We must remain committed; we must remain faithful… His Blessings and His Bounty are ours, when we are obedient, and faithful! Anything that keeps us focused on the Love of God and the Gratitude for HIS LOVE, through JESUS CHRIST! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE! (Re-Post)

“Let the Dogs Bark…”

November 21    “Let the Dogs Bark…”   Matthew 5:11-12

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” (Matthew 5:11-12)

In recent months, it has become obvious that the “Devotional” ministry is making some difference in the battle between “right and wrong!” I have been receiving various reactions to the on-going message of Hope and Peace, and the pathway to achieve these elusive goals. We are told, in the Holy Scriptures, that the World “hates” the Believer, and Satan WILL do everything possible to thwart the bold message of Hope and Peace that is available through the Selfless Act of Love, by Jesus Christ, on the Cross of Calvary! Criticisms, complaints, disagreements about the Word of God, and its power to transform mankind, is a “Heart” problem. Jesus told us that we would receive the “hatred” and “persecution” from an unbelieving humanity, but to keep serving, keep preaching, keep believing and Never, Ever Stop! Dear friends, we have a mission, and that mission is clear! We must be about the Father’s Business, to share the Good News and to bring “Light” into this “Dark and Evil” world. We face opposition from every side, and we will face challenges that will seem overwhelming, yet we are promised victory in this struggle! My daddy used to tell a story about the Medieval times, when caravans of minstrels and merchants would travel from village to village, offering entertainment and merchandise to the weary folk of the towns. These old wagons were loaded down will supplies and pots and pans and, most of the time, these items were strapped to the sides of the wagon, and as they made their way through the towns and villages, they made a lot of noise. This noise brought out every dog along the way. The caravans would move slowly through an area and the dogs would be barking and yelping and biting at the wagon wheels and doing everything possible to stop the noise of the wagons. Guess what? The wagons kept moving, regardless of the dogs! Here is the message for the Believer as we share God’s Good News… THE DOGS BARK, BUT THIS CARAVAN IS MOVING ON!! Let the “dogs” of disagreement and criticism and persecution bark, but for me, I WILL continue to Praise God, Claim His Power, and Promises, and I WILL keep on PREACHING HIS WORD, until the day that He calls me Home or “Raptures” me to Him! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

As I grow in HIS Grace and Knowledge, I do not fear the future! I am excited about what is ahead! My future, my security, my life, is planned out before me, because I have claimed and received the Gift of God, through Jesus Christ! This world is changing all around me, and I am witnessing the moving and progression of God’s plan for humanity unfolding before my eyes, and I am excited to be a part of this divine plan! Even though, momentarily, I might stumble and lose focus, I am assured that You are guiding me and loving me and teaching me and holding me secure in Your Arms! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! Thank you for allowing me to live my life, consumed by Your Presence and completed by Your Love! Please Lord, continue to allow me the privilege to say “Thank-You,” for Your Love, Grace, Guidance, and Your Sustaining Power for My Living! May I continue to Live with GRATITUDE! May I continue to Serve in the Beauty of Your Holiness! Friends, He has Promised us… What choices will you make? “Deliverance”

November 19            “Deliverance”           Galatians 1:3-4

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.” (Galatians 1:3-4)

Life in the 21st Century is busy! No one can deny that we are, as a society, so much busier than we were just a couple of decades ago. There is so much more going on that there doesn’t seem to be enough time to get everything accomplished. The World and all its distractions and activities, have a tendency to take us away from being the True Christian that we should be! If we aren’t careful, we will allow the “World’s Standards and Expectations” to dictate out thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors! So, the question is, how do we “separate” lives while living in this EVIL and DEPRAVED world? Fellow Believers, we have some precious promised truths in today’s scripture passage. The first truth is that Jesus is our answer to the question of how we navigate through this Evil World! He has provided deliverance from bondage of this world’s temptations and has provided instructions to follow to make it through this age, while walking in obedience and achieving VICTORY over this Evil World! The next truth is profound!! Through the shed blood of JESUS CHRIST and the LOVE OF GOD, for us, HE has, indeed, brought deliverance from sin and He has provided guidance and leadership in the ability to lead righteous and godly lives, regardless of this world’s negative and destructive influences. It is God’s will for us to live Holy and Righteous lives and He has provided the necessary tools to do just that! We are His workmanship, and we are His Hands and Feet in this world, and we are to be about the Father’s Business! It is our responsibility to be what God has ordained for us to be! It is our decision to be strong and effective servants for Christ! It is our duty, our calling, our Hope, to be the best witness for Christ that we can be! Regardless of the negative and depraved influences of SATAN and this World, we are to BOLDLY CLAIM HIS PROMISES AND LIVE HOLY LIVES, WITH THE FIRM ASSURANCE THAT HE HAS BROUGHT TO US…HIS GRACE AND HIS COMFORTING PEACE!! What God does with you, IS UP TO YOU! It ALWAYS has been, it ALWAYS will be! Please stay in God’s Word; Stay of your Knees in Prayer and continue to Share the Good News of Jesus Christ, in Word and in Actions! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 58:8)

Amazingly and miraculously, my physical body is in a continuous state of change. Every cell is constantly changing, rejuvenating, and restoring. When I think of the age-related aches and pains, and the level of activity that I subject my body to, on any given day, I am amazed at the Divine Design of my human body! There is always new life that is expanding within me, and I know that my body is renewing and restoring, even though, I may not recognize it. As I grow in HIS Grace and Knowledge, I am aware of the Blessing of God’s Divine Touch upon our bodies and our need to recognize HIS Power, Presence, and sustaining Love. I heard a dear lady say something that triggered my desire to recognize the Good and dismiss the Bad.  She said, “When I am feeling a bit less that whole, and things feel wrong, I quickly remember that which is right about me, and count my blessings and refuse to accept the wrong!”  Wow! What a beautiful sermon! God’s Grace, God’s Sustaining Power, God’s Divine Providence is constantly renewing me and restoring me and strengthening me, and He is actively engaged in our well-being, so that we can continue to be BOLD and EFFECTIVE WITNESSES for HIS GRACE and LOVE! I am claiming the Promise…. “Your Light shall break forth like the dawn, and Your healing shall spring up quickly!” Focus on the BLESSINGS, not the BURDENS! May Your ATTITUDE be one of GRATITUDE, not GRUMBLING! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

SPIRITUAL BEING

November 17  “SPIRITUAL BEING”          Colossians 3:9-10

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…” (Colossians 3:9-10)

What an amazing reality that I have discovered, as I grow in HIS Love and Grace. Coming to know myself, to really know who I am, affords me the opportunity to truly live in the reality of HIS Truth! The Truth is: that I am a SPIRITUAL BEING! As a “Born-Again” Believer, I have the privilege to think and to speak out of His Power and His Love, and not limited to the Fleshly weaknesses and limitations! Because of Jesus Christ, and His selfless act on Calvary, I have the blessing of the Holy Spirit, that indwells me, and directs me, and teaches me, and secures my living! There are days when I feel so challenged and I am consumed by doubt and fear, yet, because I am a Son of the King, all that is required, to push back the fear, is to claim HIS POWER, PROVISION, and HIS AMAZING GRACE and go to God, IN PRAYER! In my humanity, I am weak and helpless, but in HIS POWER, I am capable, and powerful, and armored up for the challenges! As a SPIRITUAL BEING, being led by the Blessed Holy Spirit, I am ready for whatever is coming my way! The Message is right here, in this passage: “Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…” I pray that your reality will be that you are a SPIRITUAL BEING, gifted with the Power to Live, right here, right now, as a true and faithful servant of God! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.”  (Psalm 138:3)

King David’s enemies were surrounding him, and he was troubled on every side, and he wrote this psalm. He was probably about to be forced out of Jerusalem and would have to evacuate to a safer place. King David had a problem! Guess What? Problems have been with mankind since Adam discovered that he had a real problem! He was naked! Ever since that day, “Man” born of a “Woman,” have had troubles! Wait! The Good News is that we have an “Ever-Present,” “Powerful,” and “Loving” God that has promised us that His Grace would be sufficient for our every need! Do you recall that Paul had a “Thorn in the Flesh,” and that Paul asked for it to be removed, and God said, No! This was a reminder to Paul that God’s Grace is sufficient for every human need! David said, “In the day when I cried out, You answered me!”  Praise God! We serve an on-time, right this minute God, who is ready, willing and able to handle our needs. Did you notice that God didn’t take away David’s problems, he “made him bold with strength in his soul.”  God provides us with the boldness to face the issues and to grow our faith and to be overcomers, regardless of the challenges that we face! I choose to walk with God and to Praise His Name and to be grateful for His Provision for me! His Grace is sufficient for me, HOW ABOUT YOU? I cry out to God, and He answers me with what He knows that I need! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”  (Psalm 51:10)

I came out of the house, to go to UNC Rex Hospital, and I really looked at my car, and I was absolutely appalled. The rain and the dust and the business of my schedule, all combined to make my car muddy and dirty and unappealing. Determined to do something about it, I went to the local car wash, at Sheetz, and with great difficulty, paid the “high” price for the solution to my dilemma. I got a car wash! As I sat in the car, rivers of cascading soapy waters flowed over the dirty surface and then the blue bristled brushes began their unenviable task. The brushes removed the dirt and grime with each passing, and the dirty water covered the cement floor. As I drove out of this “tunnel” of Cleansing, into the bright light of a beautiful day, my car was glistening in the bright morning sun! Wow! I thought about this beautiful verse, and I realized, that just like my car that had gotten a bit too close to the mudholes and the muddy dirt roads, I, from time to time, also stray too close to the “Muddiness” of life and stray too far away from the “Cleansing” of the Father God! What a glorious moment when we realize that He does not discard us when we stray, He renews us and “washes” us, and restores us! Please, Please, Please ask God, Today, Right Now, for His Renewing and Restoration and His Total Cleansing for your life! He loved us enough to send Jesus, to die, suffer and to be buried, and to be raised up from the grave and to be our SAVIOR!! Let our daily prayer be just this: “Please Dear Lord, Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”  Let this day be a Day of Renewal! TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

The FULLNESS of GOD

November 13  “The FULLNESS of GOD”          Ephesians 3:19

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”  (Ephesians 3:19)

Love is the greatest thing that man has ever experienced! When I think of the depth of the Love of God, for humanity, and His expression of that Love, through the sacrifice of His Only Son, Jesus, I am amazed and grateful! This Love, the Love of Jesus Christ, is not something that we can achieve, it is something that we receive! The fact of the matter is this: We could never figure out or even come to know Him in a personal and intimate way through our human intellect. PRAISE GOD! Our Heavenly Father determined to use the Divine Message of His Love, displayed on the Cross of Calvary, to bring us into a true and lasting relationship with Him! His Great Love purchased our Salvation, and that same Love secured our eternity! This Love has the power to do anything! Friends, God’s Love is enough! There is absolutely nothing lacking about His Love! We cannot add to or take away from this Love! I am excited to realize that this Love, the Love of God, has the power to change me, to keep me and to guide and empower me to face the challenges of this current age! Regardless of what I face, I am encouraged, like the Apostle Paul, when he declared in Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Isn’t it an amazing thing to know the Love of God, through Jesus Christ, and to understand that nothing can and will ever change this Love! Regardless of the circumstances, problems, difficulties, the Love of God is not altered or diluted! His Great Love fills my longings and fills every need and completes my living! Please Lord, remind me, each day, that I am more than a conqueror through the Love of God through my savior, Jesus Christ! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

**PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR NATION! Amid record inflation, skyrocketing prices, scarcities, unrest, and corruption at the highest levels, the one overriding and motivating factor in our recent election was the “Right” to kill an unborn child! Wow! Really America? Come Quickly Lord, Come Quickly! (II Chronicles 7:14) **

Do You TRUST GOD?

November 12  “Do You TRUST GOD?”  Philippians 4:19

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

I assume that taking an inventory of what we have and what we lack, is a natural part of our human existence. I listen to family and friends talking about what they don’t have and what they desire yet, they seem to forget the blessings that they already enjoy!  Are we spending valuable time worrying about lack, when we should be rejoicing, for what we actually have to enjoy?  As I reflect on my own life, I am blessed, and I am living a Full Life.  I am excited for the future!  God has promised that there would be great and mighty blessing ahead, and all that I must do; is to be Faithful and ask for His Provision and He would provide for my every need… Considering all that is in my life, I AM TRULY BLESSED!  The older that I become and the Stronger and more mature I become, spiritually, I am excited that I am focusing on what I have, and not what I perceive that I lack.  God said that He would supply my every need and He said that He would provide Wisdom and Strength and Courage, so, what do I need beyond His Promises?  How about embracing the blessings and living for Him, in such a way that others would recognize His Grace, Power, Provision and Promise and that they too, would become more focused on Praise versus Pity.  Think about this question: How would the Lord God of all that is, want to bless you?  How about blessing you, HEART, MIND, SOUL AND WITH HIS STRENGTH?  Matthew 6:33 says it best:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”  Seek God first and watch Him supply your needs beyond your grandest imagination…Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
