October 21 Impressions Psalm 100: 2-3
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina…“Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”
Every one of us has been to a restaurant and has been served by a waitress/waiter. The experience is either good or not! The server may be ok at bringing the food and keeping the glasses full; however, the ATTITUDE will make the difference. Attitude is the key to every situation that we encounter. Recently, Annette and I were in a strange restaurant, in another state, and we were hungry. This young woman approached our table and provided menus and said, “I’ll be back!” As we scanned the menu, I noticed that our waitress was serving the entire area, where we were seated. It appeared, to me, that she was overwhelmed, or at least, very busy! She arrived at our table and said, “Welcome, my name is Candy and I will be your server.” She took our order, and within seconds, she brought wonderful, hot bread to our table. Long story short…This girl was on the ball! Focused, efficient, friendly and busy! The one overriding fact about her was her ATTITUDE! The food was ok, the atmosphere was ok, but this girl made our dining experience very pleasant. As I have observed my fellow Christians and the way in which our Savior is being “Served,” I see extreme differences in “ATTITUDE!” People are watching! People see how we interact with others and they are keenly aware of our “ATTITUDE!” How are we serving, in His Name? What impressions are we leaving with unsaved folk? Every one of us has seen professing believers act and react negatively, in certain situations that leave a negative impression to observers. Mama used to tell me (many times as she was applying her unique brand of “attitude adjustment”) that I needed to have the right “ATTITUDE” and that folks should be able to see it in my actions and on my face!! No wonder that the psalmist instructs us to “SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS!” Regardless of circumstances or situations, as “Born-Again Believers,” we are to serve the Lord with “GLADNESS, and that means, “WITH THE PROPER ATTITUDE!!” IT IS YOUR ATTITUDE, NOT YOUR APTITUDE THAT WILL DETERMINE YOUR ALTITUDE!!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
