December 18 Being a Servant Micah 6:8
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)
**In Memory of a Fellow Servant of God, Mr. Robert “Bob” Himmel**
Every servant looks for opportunities to meet a need. A true servant will always do the right thing, regardless of recognition from others or reward for the efforts. When I think of an example of servanthood, I think of our friend, Bob Himmel. Bob consistently demonstrated acts of love towards others, regardless of the cost, as he reflected true servanthood in his personal and private life. The last conversation that we had, he asked me to pray for him to be more humble before God and to be a better servant. Folks, to display such love, and concern requires, both mercy and humility. God’s Mercy, enabled Bob to see the needs of others and the humility to submit himself, to service to others for Christ’ sake. Seeing the need through God’s Mercy, then, Humility is the attitude needed to meet the need! This beautiful humility gives us grace to lay down our own agenda and to give of ourselves, our time, resources and plans to reach out to others, in love and to meet the needs of others. All of us have seen that “Good Intentions” are not enough! Our Christian Service is simply this: “ … the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God…” This is “LOVE IN ACTION! Seeing the NEED, then MEETING THOSE NEEDS out of the overflow of our growing and maturing relationship with Almighty God! Let us commit to making a difference, one soul at a time! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
