April 24, 2020 “Lesson Learned” Romans 12:2
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” “It was great, Dad.” “Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked. “Oh yeah,” said the son. “So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip,” asked the father? The son answered: “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. “We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them.” The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, “Thanks Dad for showing me just how poor we are.” Our perspective is, truly, important to our reality. Over the past several years, I have taught that “when your vertical relationship is proper, your horizontal relationships will take care of themselves, because, out of a heart that is focused on Jesus and His selfless act on Calvary, we will see the world and its inhabitants through the eyes of Jesus! The Moral is simply that, Love, Unity, Care; Satisfaction is richer than any comfort money or this world gives. Jesus told us to love one another…are we doing that? How is your vertical relationship? Are you continuing to focus on the Cross or the world? Please be aware of the FACT that this present situation will end, but, PRAISE GOD, His Grace, His Love and His Provision WILL NEVER END! I choose to follow the Master and continue to ask Him to mold me into what He would have me be! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…Remember, THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
Dear God, mold us and make us into what You would have us to be and cause us to realize, just how awesome that the gift is that we enjoy. Protect us during this time and empower us to serve you with the “Perspective of the Cross!” To God Be The Glory! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
