July 14 “Christians in a Godless World” Philippians 1:8-11
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God." (Philippians 1:8-11)
There is no doubt that we are living in a time where people are walking in the evil of this world with no apparent regard for standards of right and wrong that have been established in God’s Holy Word. As Children of God, we need to follow a different pattern and a different set of rules to walk as true believers. The mere fact that your name is on the church roll, does not influence the outside world! We need to live more consecrated Christian lives. The world must see that we are different, that something has happened within us that has changed us. Folks need to see Jesus in us! As we move through this “Godless” world, we need the power that comes from a deeper devotional life! We live in a “Godless” world. Evil is all around us. Praise God; we have two wonderful tools to help us navigate through the evil that exists! We have the Bible and it speaks to us and guides us and corrects us and teaches us the way to go. The second tool is the privilege of prayer. WE can speak to God and commune with Him and He will provide the power to grow in fellowship with Him and to strengthen our influence on others, for Christ! Friends, we need a “REVIVAL” of our missionary zeal! Daddy called this, “A PASSION FPR LOST SOULS!” Everything about us, our thoughts, our words, our actions, our attitudes, our friends, our activities, our future, must be surrendered to God and we need to exercise the privilege of salvation, every day. The Bible teaches us that we are to walk in faith and obedience and, if we are to make a difference, for Jesus Christ, in this “Godless” world, we must have a commitment to serve and a “Passion” for the lost! Folks, I am satisfied that Jesus’ return is sooner than you might think. We just simply need to get serious about being a Christian and commit to stand up and share Jesus with anyone and everyone that you encounter. This commitment requires that we have a relationship with God, through Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit! I have asked God what does He expect of me, in these trying and turbulent times, and He has spoken clearly, through the pages of His Holy Word, that I am to be found faithful, to love my neighbor, to love those who despitefully use me, to feed His sheep, to turn the other cheek, to love God, to claim His promises and provisions, to walk by faith and not by sight, and to be slow to anger, quick to listen and always represent the shed blood of Christ in a positive and loving manner! So, what am I saying? In order to effectively witness the “Good News” to this “Godless” world, this “godless” world MUST SEE JESUS IN YOU! What God does with you, depends upon what you do! It Always has; It Always will!! Be sure, be productive and continue to share the Love of God with others! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…Remember, THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
