January 15 Trust in the Lord Proverbs 3:5
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
In June of 2019, Annette and I had the privilege to visit Walt Disney World, with our little family. As we prepared for the experience, every conversation was centered on the anticipation of experiencing every ride, exhibit and display possible. Ava was so excited and every moment, before our trip, was spent imagining her experience. Well, the time came and we were at Disney World. The very first day, in the Magic Kingdom, was filled with wonder and amazement. I was anticipating the excitement on Ava’s face when we rode, “Its A Small World.” We climbed into the boat and we began to move through the splendor that is the Disney Magic. I was watching Ava’s face, in anticipation of an explosion of delight and amazement, yet, it didn’t happen. Oh my, did she like it? I was certain that she would be so excited and would be jumping for joy over one of my favorite rides. We disembarked and I took her by the hand and we exited the building. As we saw the sunlight, she pulled my hand and asked, “Can we do it again?” At that moment I knew that Ava did like the show. She really liked it a lot! My mistake was in expecting her to respond at the time and in the way that I thought she should. We went on to experience many amazing things that day, yet, the experience at “It’s a Small World,” was a sermon rich experience. Whenever I pray to God and He doesn’t seem to be answering me as I expect He should, I think about the experience with Ava and I am reminded not to measure His response by my expectations. God will answer my prayers, in His time and in His own way. I must TRUST HIM and, BY FAITH, claim the fact that He will respond! I remember what my Daddy used to say, “Not my will, but Yours, Dear Lord!” Remember, we are to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
