THANK YOU GOD!

March 21         THANK YOU GOD!        Proverbs 18:22

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”  (Proverbs 18:22)

Forty years ago, God answered my prayer!  From the time that I was saved, I have prayed that God would send the right mate, life’s partner, friend and wife to me.  On this special day, after some behind the scenes maneuvers by friends and, believe it or not, Annette’s mother, we meet and went on our first date.  I have always wanted to spoil my “Dates,” so, I took her to Parker’s BBQ and then we went bowling.  Folks, it was the “romantic” in me that motivated be to pull out the stops and to impress her with my sophisticated ways.  I knew, the first time that I saw her, that she was “THE ONE!”  On the drive home, I was thanking God for answered prayers!  Well, I may have known that she was “THE ONE;” however, apparently, she didn’t get the spiritual memo.  It was early in our relationship that I said, “I LOVE YOU!”  I was expecting a sweet reply!  “Thank you!”  Thank you?  What? I just told you that I love you and I got Thank you!  Anyway, not being dissuaded, I pressed on, with the goal of helping her realize that I was “THE ONE!”  It took me 30 months, to talk this Franklin County Country Girl into saying, “I Do!”  This Love Story; that began with prayer, and a Blind Date, still survives, and thrives, today!  “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37:5)  The message for today, is very simple…Commit everything that you are to God and Trust that He will bless you and in everything that you do, Seek His Will and Directions.  I am happy to report that after 38 years of marriage and 40 years of knowing one another, that relationship that started through a Divinely Inspired Blind Date, is still growing and is sweeter today that it was in March 21 of 1981.  Thank you God for the most amazing and strong woman, and thank you for blessing our union and for continuing to guide us and to help us serve you in Holiness! To My Annette…HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!  THANK YOU FOR LOVING ME AND HONORING GOD BY BEING MY HELPMATE, CONFIDANT AND BEST FRIEND!  I LOVE YOU MORE TODAY THAT YESTERDAY AND PLEASE KNOW THAT I AM THANKFUL TO GOD FOR YOU!
