May 18 The Unhappy Made Happy Luke 18:42
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy Faith hath saved thee.” (Luke 18:42)
The scripture passage tells us of a “certain blind man” that was sitting along the roadside as Jesus was going to Jericho. This man could not see, however, he heard the multitudes of people passing by and he asked what was happening. He was told that Jesus of Nazareth was going to pass by his way. He became excited and began to call out to Jesus. Those that were going ahead of Jesus told him to be quiet. Jesus stopped, instructed the Disciples to bring this man to him. Jesus asked this blind man, “What would you have me do for you?” “Lord, that I would receive my sight.” “And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy Faith hath saved thee.” Folks, we are living in a world of distress, chaos, troubles and sin. Yet, in the midst of all of this confusion and unhappiness, caused by sin, many are amazingly and supremely happy. It is a beautiful fact that unhappy folks can be made happy through the power of God’s Love, Faith in His Son and the Grace brought to us through Calvary! Think about this! This man was blind! He was a beggar! He was burdened! When we are without Jesus, we too, are blind and beggars and burdened! This story of the blind man is so inspirational and profound. What did this “Unhappy” man do? He heard Jesus! Someone had witnessed to him. Recognizing his condition, he cried out to this Jesus and his cry was a “Cry of Faith!” Remember Romans 10:13…”Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!” He came to Jesus! He came in Faith and because of his faithful response to Jesus’ call, he received what he asked for! Praise God…His eyes were opened, His sins were forgiven, His heart was filled with the cleansing, purifying grace of God and he started a new life, with the ability to “See.” That is exactly what happens to us when we come to Jesus, in Faith, believing that He will do what we ask…In Jesus’ Name! So, how are, UNHAPPY PEOPLE, MADE HAPPY? It is through Faith in the selfless act on Calvary and the atoning Grace of the Shed Blood of Jesus for our sins, that we have the transformation from “UNHAPPY” to “HAPPY!” Have you received Jesus as your Savior? Are you UNHAPPY? If you have claimed Jesus as LORD AND SAVIOR, and you are still “UNHAPPY,” it is time for a Spiritual Check-up! Remember, what God does with you is entirely and completely UP TO YOU! It always has, and it always will!! Our joy, our happiness should not be subject to circumstances and situations! Claim the Faithful Victory through the Blood of Jesus and be HAPPY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
