~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “May He enlighten the eyes of your mind so that you can see what hope His call holds for you.” (Ephesians 1:18)
WWJD…Do you remember the bracelets that were popular a few years ago? WWJD… “What Would Jesus Do?” We are told and I continue to preach, that we are to be like Jesus. What does it mean to be “like Jesus?” Think about it…This old world has never known a man like Jesus. His heart was pure, and his lifestyle and character were without fault or blemish. He was in tune with the Father, and He heard every whisper of the Father God. Jesus brought to mankind His mercy, that was powerfully capable of forgiving our sins. He reached out to great and small, and He was engaged in the lives of those who were in need. This man called Jesus, endured the suffering and shame and pain and ridicule, yet He never quit, and He was determined to fulfill His mission for Humanity. Jesus is the ultimate model for humanity, and we are to embrace His mission, His Grace and His Mercy and emulate Him in every area of our lives! To Be Christ-Like, is to emulate Jesus Christ! We must focus on Jesus and, we must embrace His example for living and we must make Jesus the center of our existence! Christmas is a great time to reflect and inspect and adjust our priorities and become more “Christ-Like” in all that we do! We have the EXAMPLE, now let’s BE WHAT HE WANTS US TO BE! In His Love…Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE….
December 12 Jesus Loves You! John 3:16
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Many years ago, when I was a boy, my beloved Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Estelle Carter, used the simple, yet profound children’s song to start every class. We would stand and sing together, the words of this familiar tune. “Jesus Loves me, this I know, For the Bible tells me so, Little ones to Him belong, They are weak but He is strong! Jesus Loves me, He who died, Heaven’s gate to open wide, He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in! Jesus, take this heart of mine, make it pure and Holy Thine, on the cross, You died for me, I will try to live for Thee! Yes, Jesus Loves me, Yes, Jesus Loves me, Yes, Jesus Loves me, the Bible tells me so!” I can still hear her saying, “Children, He Loves You, so, You ought to Love Him!” Folks, we need to focus on what is real and the fact that a Mighty God, who made the entire universe and everything in it, has declared that He loves us, and He demonstrated that love, by presenting His Own Son as a sacrifice for our sins and failures! Does it honor God when we are focused on the temporal and “worldly” influences and are consumed by the politics and chaos of this present day? It is difficult enough navigating through this “Foreign” land, without fellow professing believers shouting that I am wrong for not “Railing Against” the evils of the day! Here is the message for today, and may I add, FOR EVERY DAY!! REMEMBER, JESUS LOVES YOU AND HE DECLARED, CLEARLY, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE! Our job, Our Responsibility, Our Calling, is to proclaim, to this Evil and Chaotic World, the fact that JESUS LOVES THEM! I cannot change the way things are, and I cannot change the ultimate Plan of God, however, I can serve God, right where I am, and I can share the Love of God with this Lost and Dying World, one soul at a time! I recognize that THIS OLD WORLD IS NOT MY HOME, I AM JUST PASSING THROUGH! Pandemics, Political arrogance, Rampant Social Ignorance, and a profound and cavalier display of Evil Driven Stupidity, cannot and WILL NOT alter the fact that MY GOD LOVES ME AND HE HAS A HIGHER CALLING FOR ME! (Through the Blood of Jesus, that Calling is yours, as well!) Dear Friends, focus on Jesus and recognize that God is in control and that He promised that, through the Blood of Jesus, we are OVERCOMERS! What God does with you, is up to you! You can choose to participate in the strife of the World, or you can choose to honor God, live Holy before Him, and focus on what really matters! Please remember, while in the “Earthly’ moment, it matters who is elected and it matters what political system dominates and how we are allowed to live, yet, in the “Eternal” view, none of this, matters, because we are “Strangers in a Foreign Land,” and we will soon be going home! YOUR ATTITUDE, NOT YOUR APTITUDE, WILL DETERMINE YOUR ALTITUDE!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “This Hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the presence behind the veil.” (Hebrews 6:19)
There are days when I am satisfied that I must be going crazy! I have asked myself if I am the only one that feels this way and am I the only one that sees the craziness and insanity that is going on! We are all faced with the realities of life, whether we acknowledge it or not. The challenges that come from a “New” normal; that has been thrust upon us, and all that goes with it, creates upheaval and descent in out thoughts and actions. Dealing with the insanity and the “Storms” of life cause us to become disillusioned and become a bit fearful. There are times when we feel as if we are adrift in the middle of a raging storm with no “Safe Port” in sight. Folks, I am here to declare that WE DO have HOPE! We need to ANCHOR DEEP! Our ANCHOR is JESUS CHRIST, and HE IS OUR HOPE!! HE is firm and strong and secure and, if we are to navigate through all the craziness of this present age, we MUST be firmly and securely attached to our SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST! You have heard me use this before: “In times like these, you need a Savior, In times like these you need an Anchor; Be very sure, be very sure, Your Anchor holds and grips the SOLID ROCK! This ROCK is JESUS, yes, He’s the ONE; This ROCK is JESUS, the ONLY ONE! Be very sure, be very sure, Your Anchor holds and grips the SOLID ROCK!” In times like these, we really do need that ROCK, which is JESUS CHRIST! So, the answer to the question is clear…NO, you are not going crazy; crazy things are happening, however, when we anchor deep in the promises of Jesus, HE WILL HOLD US, SECURELY AND STEADFASTLY, UNTIL THE STORM PASSES BY!! I am clinging to the anchor, which is my Savior, and when I feel confused and a sense of despair, I grip that anchor rope that gives me peace and strength and ETERNAL HOPE! I pray that you will “ANCHOR DEEP,” and grab hold of the HOPE, read John 3:16 and embrace the HOPE that is found, only in Jesus! Remember – You Are Not Alone!!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!!
December 10 Truly Focused Isaiah 26:3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah 26:3)
Over the past two years, with its chaos and upheaval and demonstrations of hatred and evil, I have been challenged to stay focused on what is real and eternal. I the midst of political and radical ideological changes in our national resolve, I have found myself caught up in the insanity of a popular movement of secular and temporal thoughts and desires. How am I to react to anti-Christian, anti-American rhetoric that is absolutely opposed to my convictions, my thoughts, my upbringing, and my Christian values? How easy it is to lose focus on what is real and just and edifying to our Lord and Savior! Yesterday, once again, the news outlets were concentrating on the idea that the COVID-19 virus and its variants, have caused increased stress and a spike in mental health issues. Really? Extreme changes to our way of life and isolation and distancing and all the negative (both real and created) that has been reported and experienced, no wonder that folks are experiencing some levels of depression and disfunction! Friends, I thank God for His Power and Presence in my life and the Provision for Peace! God has promised that, when we are focused on the correct things and when we are committed to His Will, then we are going to experience “Perfect Peace,” regardless of the circumstances! For almost two years, I have ended each daily devotional, with the admonition to “STAY STRONG, STAY FOCUSED!” Our survival requires True Focus on what is Real and Just and Edifying to our GOD! The words of a beautiful old hymn (My heart is fixed, O God on Thee), provides the encouragement that we need to, not only survive, but to THRIVE! “My heart is fixed O God on Thee, No more my feet shall go astray; I caught a glimpse of Calvary, and now I walk with Christ today. My heart is fixed O God on Thee, my eyes are now on things above, from worldly yokes, Praise God I’m free, I’m running o’er with Joy and Love. One time I wandered far away, I did not heed the Shepherd’s voice; My heart on God is fixed today, For He is my eternal choice. My heart is fixed, my face is set, upon the prize that lies before; all other claims I will reject, My Heart is fixed forevermore. No longer tossed upon the waves, Of sin and doubt but now I sail; within the life boat, JESUS SAVES, No Storms against me shall prevail.” Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” (Psalm 16:8)
Worldly events, political upheaval, conflicting information, and opinions, on the facts about the Coronavirus and its variants, have conspired to create much stress and discontent among, even, believers. If we focus on the earthly issues, it is easy to see how we would be stressed and shaken by the current events. I am witnessing folks that are being “Shaken” by these worldly events and this is affecting their faith, their walk with Christ and their witness for Him. When we are so focused on the temporal that we lose sight of the eternal and our mission and responsibility to our Savior, we become “Shaken” and our vision becomes blurred. Folks, troubles will come, people will disappoint, Satan will attack, and he is relentless, and he is excited when you focus on the earthly and turn away from the eternal. How are we to survive in this hostile and evil world? We survive by setting our eyes on God, our eternal authority, and our support. When we are focused on Jesus Christ, we need not be “Shaken!” Through the Holy Spirit, His strength will guide us, through His power, He will sustain us, and we can survive the challenges of this life and stand strong and never be “Shaken or Moved!” I grew up hearing a song that my mother sang, especially in difficult times. I find myself singing these same words, when times become difficult, even today! “Glory hallelujah, I shall not be moved, anchored in Jehovah, I shall not be moved. Just like the tree that’s planted by the water, I shall not be moved! Though all Hell assail me, I shall not be moved, Jesus will not fail me, I shall not be moved. Just like the tree that’s planted by the water, I shall not be moved! Thought the tempest rages, I shall not be moved. On the rock of ages, I shall not be moved. Just like the tree that’s planted by the water, I shall not be moved!!” We can navigate through this life, unshaken and unmovable, when we focus on Jesus and claim His sustaining Power for our living. Storms WILL come and CHALLENGES WILL happen, yet we can stand firm and strong, when we are claiming His Promises and Walking in His Power and Honoring His Calling and Doing what He requires! “Glory Hallelujah, I shall not be moved, anchored in Jehovah, I shall not be moved.” Regardless of the issues of the day, I choose to live for Jesus and to continue to be what He requires and to stay true and focused on His commands, walking in His Obedience AND KNOWING THAT “I SHALL NOT BE MOVED!!” How about you? Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord; it shall rejoice in His salvation.” (Psalm 35:9)
I believe that everyone would agree that this life is full of ups, and downs, and bumps and twists. It has been said, and I may have said it, “Life is like a Roller Coaster!” If you have been to Disney World and have ridden Space Mountain, you have experienced the twists and turns and the ups and downs of the car as it zooms along the tracks. It is dark, and the next turn or drop or climb sneaks up on you and you must hang on and ride it out. Life is like that! Some hills and valleys and curves that we face are small and we barely notice the movement, and others are huge and create anxiety and dread and fear and hurt and anger. Sadly, when we face these monumental challenges, we react on our feelings, at that moment! Praise God, as a Follower of Christ, we have another option! We can go through life, drifting and aimless in our experience or we can connect with God, through His Son, Jesus, and experience the Life Changing Relationship with Jesus Christ! Keep in mind, our relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ, does not free us from troubles and difficulties and challenges of life, the Good News is that, because of Jesus’ Love, we experience the Peace and Joy that only God c an provide. I know that claiming His Provision is better than riding the ups and downs of my emotions and feelings! HE is Steady and I, in my humanity, are not! Please do not place your trust in your feelings! Feelings change like the wind… Trust God and Ask Him for Guidance and His Peace and Strength and Protection and His Joy! As we experience greater and greater challenges to our Faith and beliefs, we MUST claim His Power and Seek His Will and Trust His Word and not our “FEELINGS!” My “feelings” will fail me; God’s Grace and Peace and True Joy will NEVER FAIL!! What God does with us is up to us…Always has, and Always WILL!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused….THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
Have your feelings ever conflicted with the expected pattern of behavior that others impose on you? Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and child-like anticipation and “Peace on Earth, Good Will towards Men,” however, it appears that another attitude has gripped the land. Grumpy, Grinch-Like attitudes have become the rule, versus the exception! Recently, some dear folks have shared their fears, frustrations, and feelings, and they are not of “Good Cheer!” How can we deal with exceptions of “Hallmark-Like” attitudes and behaviors when reality is anything but? Truthfully, I have experienced this same conflict. How can I battle, what might be called, a Christmas depression? Well, what works for me is to be proactive and to include the message of Christ in my daily life. Getting back to basics, has worked for me, every time! What does Christmas mean to a Follower of Christ? It should be the Birth of Jesus, our Savior! Getting back to basics, for me, is to read the story of Jesus’ birth, every single day! Staying focused on the event, the message, and HIS gift, causes me to remain focused on the real and noble and the blessings of Christmas! Amazingly, this simple story helps me to focus an attitude of love for others, regardless of their “Grumpy” behavior. When I read Matthew and Luke, it reminds me of my priorities, and it reminds me of my duty! When I find myself being driven by the “I HAVE GOT TO GET THIS DONE” mentality, I just read the story of HIS BIRTH, and I come back to reality! To repeat; an adage, REMEMBER THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!! Please do not allow worldly expectations and the behaviors of others to dampen your spirit! John 3:16 is the real message of Christmas! God’s Love, His Son’s Mission, Our Salvation, His Power for Living! Focus on His Mission and have a Merry, God-Centered Christmas Experience!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that FAITH without works is dead?” (James 2:20)
Every one of us has Faith in something! Faith in and of itself will never be as critically important as the object of our FAITH! We dwell in a world where faith is everywhere, yet, tragically, Faith is placed on all the wrong things! God has called us to be “People of FAITH!” Strong, Active, Extraordinary, Life Changing FAITH. What we do, and how we do it, is a visible manifestation of our FAITH! Our FAITH should be visible and clear to everyone around us. You see, genuine FAITH will always reveal itself! True FAITH is always visible and True FAITH WILL ALWAYS PRODUCE “FRUIT!!” FAITH on the inside will always produce “Fruit (Good Works).” There are multiple examples of True and Fruit Producing Faith throughout the Holy Scriptures. We see the Faith of Joseph as he persevered and forgave his brothers (Genesis 39-48). We see strong Faith as David was swinging his “Slingshot” to, by Faith, take down the giant, Goliath (1 Samuel 17:45-50). Faith was demonstrated when Isaiah spoke boldly: “Here I am! Send me! (Isaiah 6:8).” The point of all this is to reveal the absolute truth; our good works uncovers our FAITH and FAITH always produces results, and the results of our Faith will lead others to a FAITH in God and will Glorify our Father God and His Son, Jesus! During these difficult days, it is so easy to become discouraged! How do we survive? We “Hunker Down” and continue to walk in True and Life-Changing FAITH! FAITH that stimulates obedience, FAITH that perseveres, even when we are confronted by fatigue and discouragement and disappointment, FAITH that Forgives wrongs and FAITH that gives us Power to do things that we would not normally do! In Mark 11:22, it gives the answer to the chaos of our day, when it says, “So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘HAVE FAITH IN GOD!’” Put your trust in GOD and HIS LOVE, through JESUS CHRIST! Keep producing “Fruit!” Keep sharing the LOVE of JESUS! Keep Trusting HIS POWER and PROVISION for your life! HAVE FAITH IN GOD! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9)
When we come to Christ and claim His forgiving Grace into our lives, we immediately have something in common with other “Believers!” Although, we may not know one another and we may not have anything in common, at least, as the world sees it, however, through the Shed Blood of Jesus, we are one! Life is full of uncertainties and none of us know what the future holds. I am not a “Miss Cleo” psychic, and I do not have a “Crystal Ball,” that tells the future, however, even though the Future is uncertain, I KNOW WHO IS IN CONTROL and HE HAS PROMISED that HE WILL TAKE CARE OF ME! One of the greatest things about our relationship with Christ is that we know that our Future is in HIS HANDS, and we need not fear! I do know that Heaven is my Home and He said that “He came to give Life Eternal and to provide “Abundant Living,” here and right this minute!! For Believers, many details of our Future are unclear, uncertain, and unknown, but our destiny, our Future, our Lives are secure because our God is Faithful and Truthful, and He has promised! Thank You God, that Your Promises, Your Love, Your Provision, is True and our uncertain Futures are clear and secure through YOU! Fellow Believers…Our God is FAITHFUL, and He has PROMISED HIS BEST FOR US! Are you getting the message? When we claim His Provisions, and walk in Fellowship with Him, then, we are able, to truly Fellowship with one another! Do Not Worry about Tomorrow, it is secure! SERVE HIM TODAY, RIGHT NOW!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save, He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
Becoming a Christian was the BEST decision that I have ever made. When I came to Jesus Christ and accepted His selfless act on Calvary, my eternity was secured! When I attempt to get my mind around “eternity,” or “forever,” I am limited. It, is truly, beyond my human comprehension, yet it is a fact; I am saved and secure for eternity! When I came to Christ, He promised my eternity, however, not just my eternity being secure, He promised that He would provide His Power and Strength and Wisdom to live my life, right here, right now! The calm assurance, in my life, is the fact that in every trial that I endure, my Christ, my Savior is with me! Because of my relationship with Christ, I can experience the rejoicing and the gladness that He provides, to me, through His Love…not just for eternity, but right here and now! As we all endure this present challenge and as we all go through the political and social upheaval, we all have the tendency to see the problem, instead of the solution. As early as this morning, I thought, “How are we going to make it through this challenge and what is going to be required of us before the end is in sight?” Things like, delaying our traditional family Thanksgiving meal until a later time or cancelling a planned gathering of our Pre-Christmas Lunch or avoiding our everyday encounters. Things are improving, yet the fear and threat of COVID19 is real and seems to be getting closer and closer to affecting everyone. Every one of our lives have been affected and disrupted. Regardless of how you feel about this Pandemic, it is REAL (I can attest to this fact), and it continues to spread, and it does not discriminate! Keep this fact in your mind: As a Forgiven Follower of Christ, we must move forward by clinging to our FAITH in God, and CLAIMING HIS PROMISES, and RECOGNIZE THE REALITY, and EMBRACE THE FACT THAT HE IS ABSOLUTELY IN OUR MIDST!!! It requires FAITH and COMMITMENT and SURRENDER, to make it through these challenging times! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
