Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21)
For many years, my parents were busy making their lives simple. I would ask why they were doing one thing or another, and Mama would always say, “The simpler the better!” What did that mean? Well, as I approach my “Golden Years,” I am all about the simplicity of life. I have observed the lives of great people of God and their lives were characterized by simplicity. So many years, I have lived in a hurry to succeed and to make a mark in life. Thank God that I have discovered that the most powerful and directed life is one that knows where it is going and recognizes the source of power and becomes clutter free and is focused, and not in a hurry! Daddy used to say that you could be busy digging a ditch with a spoon and accomplish very little. Let me point out that being busy is by no means, a sin. Jesus, Paul, Peter, Matthew, were busy, and very little is accomplished without effort and work and the weariness that comes from the labor. Now, if your business is dedicated to the accumulation of stuff that are empty and shallow and hold no eternal significance, well that can’t please God, so, it might qualify as sin! I know what it is to be tired and weary in the pursuit of things that do not satisfy and have zero eternal value. My passions and my possessions, that activated my pride, were all empty and dead things in my life. Folks, I am 100% committed to being busy for my Lord! I am constantly “De-Cluttering” my life and continuing to focus on what is edifying to my Savior! Please, do not follow, seeking “dead” stuff, when our “Living” is promised, when we seek things, that are above. Is your life cluttered with temporal and earthly stuff and are you busy digging a ditch with a spoon? “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused, Live Clutter-Free…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart. When the wicked comes, contempt comes also; And with dishonor comes reproach.” (Proverbs 18:2-3)
I have been told, my entire life, that “Knowledge is King!” I am told that “wisdom” is to be valued and sought and that we simply need to ask our God for it, and He will provide all that we need! I love what Charles Spurgeon said about this subject! “Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.” Is it possible that individuals may be “educated” beyond their ability to use the knowledge? Today is an unofficial day of acceptable “lying!” “The Moon is made of Cheese!” “April Fools!” When I ponder the condition of this world, specifically the United States of America, and the foolish and destructive patterns of acceptable behavior and thoughts that are permeating the culture, I want to shout to the rooftop, “This has Got to Be ‘April Fools!’” The reality of Spurgeon’s words echoes through the entire culture of our 21st century existence! I submit to you that, based on the evidence, every day is “Fool’s Day,” in America, today, in 2022! Friends, listen to Isaiah 32:6: “For the foolish person will speak foolishness, and his heart will work iniquity: To practice ungodliness, to utter error against the Lord, to keep the hungry unsatisfied, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.” Does this sound familiar? Is this happening in our World? Believers, seek His Wisdom and “Exercise that Wisdom,” in all of your dealing! Proverbs 14:8-10 says, “The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way, But the folly of fools is deceit. Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is favor. The heart knows its own bitterness, and a stranger does not share its joy.” Please, Please, Please, Seek His Wisdom and avoid the Foolish, and do not participate in the “Foolishness” that has overtaken our modern human thoughts and behaviors! We do not have control over the foolishness and actions of others; however, we have full control over our reactions and our participation in the insanity of the foolish! Micah 6:8 tells us the way that we are to live!! “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” The question remains, will you seek His face, will you live humbly before Him, will you do what is right, will you “love mercy,” and share that mercy with others? This crazy and convoluted world rolls on to destruction, yet I refuse to be a party to hastening the destruction! Please Lord, give me wisdom to live among my fellow travelers with Your Wisdom and Patience, and Your Grace to successfully navigate as many as I can into the presence of Your Saving Grace and Your ability to “Heal” the “Foolish!” TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
PRAYER & GRATITUDE
March 31 “Prayer & Gratitude” 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18)
What a privilege and blessing to be able to go to God anytime, anywhere, about anything that we desire! This amazing opportunity that is afforded us, through the Blood of Jesus Christ, is available to us all the time! We can (and should) go to Him in prayer, every single day! We should be in an “Attitude” of Prayer, every minute of the day! Our relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, is dependent on our growing and ongoing relationship and that fellowship that is growing and maturing, each passing day! There are days when I do not feel like speaking out loud to anyone, yet the growing relationship with God allows me to pray without ceasing in my heart and in my mind, and that constant communication is the “life-line” for growth and my growing dependence on Him! We are told to “Pray without ceasing,” and to be “Grateful,” in the process! PRAISE GOD! He has provided the greatest combination for every Believer: The Privilege of Communication with the father and an Attitude of Gratitude in the process!! Regardless of the challenges and the trials and the issues of the day, I have the privilege and the blessing to be able to come boldly into the presence of Almighty God, constantly, and commune and communicate and grow and fellowship! What an awesome blessing that has been given to us, by the Loving and Powerful and Forgiving Savior, Jesus Christ! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! I continue to pray that you will develop the “lifestyle” of being in constant communication with the Father, through the Son, and do it with GRATITUDE and GRACE! Folks, in the middle of the Darkness of our human existence, God has provided the “LIGHT of HIS LOVE,” to calm and strengthen us, in all that we encounter and endure! THANK YOU, LORD!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
From the time that I was able to read, my parents insisted and encouraged me to read my Bible. There were times, I would read the scriptures and thought that it was worthless for me to habitually read these same words, over and over. Amazingly, there was a situation that presented, and I immediately thought of a scripture that was appropriate for the issue. Wow! How did that happen? Mama used to tell me that, “the more that you learn, the more you will want to learn!” Why? She would follow up with some abstract answer like, “it will light your path!” She would say, “Read Psalm 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” How did she know that? I began to reflect on my early life, and I remember both of my parents, spending time in God’s Word and always encouraging me to do the same. Now, at 65 years old, I may not be able to recall the amount that Mama could, however, I continue to store up His Word, in my heart, and continue to strengthen my knowledge of Him. (Psalm 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.) Just recently, a dear friend and Prayer Partner, were discussing the necessity of memorizing the scriptures, and doing it as much as possible, with the purpose of being ready to take on the wiles and ways of Satan. When we hung up the phone, I thought of another reason to “Hide His Word in Our Hearts!” Sadly, I thought, of all, of those amazing saints of God, that I have ministered to, over the years, and the sad reality of their situations. Many could not remember who they were, and did not recognize their own children, yet; they could quote scripture; chapter and verse, as if they had just read it! That conversation with my wise prayer partner, and her words of wisdom, inspired by the Holy Spirit, ministered to my Spirit, and has caused me to desire, even greater, the hiding of His Word, in my heart and mind! 2 Timothy 2:15 provides a great reason for doing just that, every day and in everything: Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Read God’s Word, Study God’s Word, Memorize God’s Word, Live God’s Word, BE God’s Word, Share God’s Word!!! My words are limited and time sensitive, but His Word is limitless and eternal and will last forever!! I get so excited about what is to come when I am, deeply, into His Word and the Holy Spirit reveals the intent and the power for living, that is mine, when I am “IN HIS WORD AND LIVING IN HIS WILL!” If you end your earthly days with the inability to recognize your family or to remember who you are or remember what you did 5 minutes ago, what do you want to remember? I choose to remember MY GOD’S HOLY SCRIPTURES. So, while you can, store up that precious word! DO IT NOW!!!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
"BE PASSIONATE"
March 29 “Be Passionate!” Colossians 3:23

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” (Colossians 3:23)
While we were in the High Country, last week, I was listening to a program that had a moderator and two individuals that were presented as “experts” in their respected positions, on the issues being discussed. I was casually watching the program, until one of the “experts” declared that Men could be Women, and that Women could be Men! The basic discussion was centered on the “Trans-Male” competing as a woman, in NCAA college swimming. One “expert” was appalled that anyone would question the legitimate right of this individual that identified as a woman, to compete against women that are actually, biological women! Wow! Friends, this is where we are in our country! This is one more slam at the fundamental and basic order that God created! When we have a debate about the basic biological reality of Male and Female, and the idea that there could be an unlimited number of gender possibilities, then we are on a slippery slope towards absolute and undeniable collapse, both morally and physically! The one panelist, that was representing the multiple gender notion, was passionate and articulate and had just the right words to defend and promote her side of the argument! I was impressed with her passion; yet appalled at her message! What in the world is going on! Listen Church, it is time that we stopped playing! It is time that we stopped acting like these “Crazy” happenings are going on somewhere else! They are at our Front Door!! It is time that we became passionate about our Jesus! It is time that we stand up for what is right and what is just and edifying to our Savior! It is time that we got serious about living for Him! The “Half-Hearted,” and “Lukewarm” level of Service is not going to be enough! Revelation 3:15-16 tells us plainly, “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Are you passionate about Jesus and His Message of Hope and Redemption and Grace? Are you living your life, for Jesus, in a manner that reflects His Grace and Forgiveness, in your own life, and a passion that can be seen by all that you encounter? Listen, we are noy going to change the “march of evil” that Satan has devised for humanity, however, we can help change the lives of those that are being exposed to this evil, and insane, thoughts and behaviors! Please live your Christian Life with Passion! A Passion for sharing Jesus – A Passion for Lost Souls – A Passion to make a difference in this “tidal wave” of unbridled evil that is sweeping our nation!!! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” (Romans 3:23-24)
When I think of the best person that I have known, and all of the good deeds and the assistance rendered to others and their lives that demonstrated a commitment to Christ, even then, they were not perfect! Every one of us are sinners, from our birth, and our nature is to sin! Jesus Christ came to re-establish a relationship with the Father God, through the atoning Blood of the Perfect lamb of God, Jesus Christ! When we claim, through Faith and Confession, His Selfless act on Calvary, then we are made whole, through Jesus, before our God! If every one of us are sinners, by birth, why is it that so many seem to believe that they are the standard to be able to judge others for their actions and behaviors? The only measuring rod that is real, is the “Perfection of God, Through Jesus Christ!” Keep growing in Your Relationship with Our Savior and Focus on what is edifying to God and not finding Fault with our neighbors and friends! “Don’t Judge Others, for with the standards that you set for them, You Will Be Judged by those same standards! Could you stand up under the same judgment? A simple rule to live by: “It is impossible to judge someone or tear them down, when you are lifting them up in Prayer!!” Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)
Eternal Life is a reality for humanity! Every one of us will live forever, somewhere! For the Believer, Eternal Life is with our Savior, Jesus Christ! Eternal Life is in and about the Son, Jesus! Jesus Christ is not A way to God; HE IS THE ONLY WAY!!! He tells us that those who Believe in Him and Trust in Him and, by Faith, walk in His Way, that we will have Everlasting Life with Him! When we believe, confess our transgressions, ask Him to Save us, then a relationship is established with our Savior! This relationship should grow and mature as we navigate through this life! When we place our Faith and Trust and Hope, in Jesus Christ, for our forgiveness of sin, at that very moment, we begin to experience His Eternal Life! Remember John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Are you walking in relationship with the Savior? Are you growing in His Grace and His Provision, every day? Are you depending on His Promises and His Power to ensure our Eternal Place with Him in Heaven? “Forgive me, Lord, and please give to me Your strength to overcome my own sin and human weaknesses and help me to live a life that is pleasing to YOU! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
One of the High Points of this scripture is that, even though we fail and “Lose our Grip” on life, our Savior and our God does not! God never said that we would not experience pain and challenges and death! He did say that “Nothing,” absolutely “Nothing,” can separate us from the Love of God! This scripture today, concludes with the reason why we will never be separated from God! It is the “LOVE OF GOD!” Praise God! Jesus conquered death and He arose from the tomb and His Love for us is ETERNAL! Even in the pains of this life, may I continue to focus on the reality of Your Love and the assurance of Your Eternal Hold, on Me! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN?
March 25 What Does It Mean To Be A Christian 1 John 2:4-6
EASTER ANNOUNCEMENT: On April 17, 2022, we will have a “SONRISE” Service. It will begin at 7:00am, and there will be a biscuit and coffee breakfast provided.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Baptist Tabernacle Church will be 100 years old, in 2022. A grand celebration is planned for May 22, 2022, to commemorate the first service as an organized church body! Special information, recognitions, God’s Word, and a catered meal (Parker’s BBQ) will be a part of the celebration. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the festivities. Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” (1 John 2:4-6)
What does it mean to be a Christian? I can tell you, right now; if you follow man’s standards, you will be bound for HELL! Many have said that they were Christians, but it is more than just saying words! Being a Christian is going to cost you! Now, salvation is free to us, however, it cost Jesus Christ His life. He paid the Full Price for our sins! Daddy used to tell the church folks that, “it will cost you to follow Jesus!” If someone tells you that you can be a “REAL” Christian without costs to you, they are ignorant or a purposeful liar! Romans 12:1-2 teaches that it will cost us! “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” You see; some say that they have claimed Jesus; yet their lives are far from “Christ-Like,” or even an attempt to be like Christ! Is it possible that some expect the benefits of serving Christ without the investment (costs) in Bible Study, Prayer, and Witnessing? I used to ask Daddy, “Why is it that there are some, in church, that seem to be dedicated to God and there are some that do not?” I have shared before, that Daddy liked to teach valuable lessons by telling stories and he told a story to me that I still remember to this day. He said, “Son, the Churches are full of two kinds of people – the ‘Saints’ and the ‘Aint’s’! The ‘Saints’ do their best to follow what God’s word commands. The ‘Ain’ts’ say, ‘You ain’t going to tell me how to live my life, I’ll do as I please!” Friends, if we are to truly, please God, we cannot live in sin and align ourselves with this sinful world! We have to overcome the fleshly desires and the lusts of our eyes and the earthly human pride. In Revelation 21:7, is says, “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.” So, what does it mean to be a Christian, according to the Bible? It means that you have accepted the price that He paid for you to be saved, but now you are willing to pay the price for being a Christian! Because Christ was who He was and stood for what He stood for, it cost Him His life! So now, it is going to cost you more than just having your name written on a church roll book, and doing a few good deeds, every now and then, to be a Christian! Colossians 3:5-10 sums it up: “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…” I am excited that my name is written in the “LAMB’S BOOK OF LIFE,” and I am claiming His Promises and asking the Blessed Holy Spirit to guide and control me, so that I can be, as Daddy’s story, a “Saint,” and not an “Ain’t!” Are you willing to pay the price? Which one are You? Remember, what God does with you, depends upon what you do! It always has, it always will! TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
During my extended retail career, I experienced many competitors that would advertise products that they didn’t have, nor were they going to sell those products. Many were creating the wrong impression, about the products, just to lure folks into their stores. I have always thought that this was a sad and deceptive practice, and it usually ends in disappointment. This reminds me of a poem that Daddy used to make a point about impressions. It is called, “The Lion and the Rabbit.” “A lion met a tiger as they drew beside a pool, Said the tiger, ‘Tell me why you’re roaring like a fool.’
‘That’s not foolish,’ said the lion with a twinkle in his eyes. ‘They call me King of all Beasts because I advertise.’
A rabbit heard them talking and ran home with a streak; he thought he’d try the lion’s plan, but his roar was just a squeak.
A fox came to investigate – Had luncheon in the woods, so when you advertise, my friend, be sure you’ve got the goods!”
The Lord commands us to “advertise,” “Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature…” Jesus Christ tells us, in our passage for today, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.” In the secular world, advertising is used to draw attention to a product or a service and there are various methods for that purpose. We live in an age in which most of the peoples may be experiencing “Brainwashing,” due to so much false advertising. Could it be possible, that in the Spiritual World, that there is “False Advertising?” Saying that we are one thing and acting like another. Why Advertise? We do it to attract people to our products, services, or ideas. In the Christian Life, advertising is essential to honor God’s Calling. Unfortunately, there are many that label themselves as Christian, but their lives indicate “False Advertising!!” If an investigation were made of your life, as a Christian, could you be sued for “False Advertisement?” Christ told us to go and lift Him up as the Key to Eternal Life in Heaven, but perhaps we have lifted-up other things. What a shame!! There are those that will spend their entire life lifting-up the wrong things, maybe leading folks into a religious circle of activities, yet never leading them to “CHRIST!!” Several months ago, I wrote a devotion called, “Old Time Religion,” and I truly believe that we need to keep it fresh and vital before folks and allow the Spirit of God to draw them into His Saving Grace! Remember this? “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to Me.” True Advertising…Here Are the Facts: When this lost and decaying world sees that we love when we are hated, and that we return good for evil, then they will surely know, as we speak boldly for Jesus Christ, that He has the Power to Change Hearts and Lives! Believer, because of your truthful advertising, the sinner will know that you are acquainted with the ONE who has the kind of Power that they need to live a life that is pleasing to God! Please Dear Lord; let our advertising be true and effective! TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… Remember, THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.’” (Ephesians 6:1-3)
When I was younger, I thought that boys and grown men shouldn’t cry, much less show that they can be reduced to tears. The tears were signs of being weak and a sissy, which a man isn’t supposed to be, supposedly! But in January of 1969, I discovered that courage isn’t all about trying to keep all the pain inside, in check. Courage isn’t all about trying to hide the tears. It’s the opposite – the tears reinforce the heart’s courage. I saw this in my father! My Grandfather, that had been abusive to my grandmother, and to his children, and because of his destructive actions, my Daddy and his baby sister were placed in the Baptist Orphanage at Kennedy Home, near LaGrange, North Carolina. This “grandfather,” in name only, died alone, on January 5, 1969. When the word came that he had died, my daddy did what he would always do in a crisis, he started taking care of the arrangements, along with his brothers and sisters. The day came for the funeral, and we sat in church, side by side, with other family members, and I kept my eyes on daddy. His face was firm and “stone-like,” and his focus was on the casket, not the long-winded minister or the music. I could only imagine what he was thinking. Regardless of the past circumstances, Daddy and Mama always opened our home to granddaddy, when he was in need. I used to wonder why daddy was so willing to do this, when his daddy had been such a terrible example of fatherhood! We left the church and made that long walk to the family plot, in the cemetery at Daly’s Chapel Church. The wind had a January chill and the minister continued to be “long-winded,” and there was the noise of a tractor, in the distance, that was competing with the barking of a stray dog, yet I was focused on my daddy! Wait! It could not be! My daddy was crying! How could he cry for this man? What could he possibly be thinking? On the way back to my uncle’s house, where the family was gathering, I mustered up the courage to ask him why he had cried at the graveside. He responded, in a gentle and comforting voice, “Son, regardless of how he acted or treated me, because I am a Child of God, I must honor my father!” I said, “Daddy, but…” He interrupted and said firmly, and fatherly, “No Buts!” I reached up and placed my 12 years old hand on his shoulder, and he reached back and covered my hand with his, and he said something that will remain with me forever. He said that the week before, he had stopped by to visit his daddy, and they had a serious talk about the past, and about forgiveness, and about his soul’s condition, and daddy led his daddy to receive Jesus, that day! It has been years since I laid my hand on my father’s shoulder, but the lesson that he taught me, that day, and the lessons from all the days before and up until his passing, remain with me, still today! I saw courage, that day, when my father cried! I saw strength when my hand was on his shoulder, and I understood his pain, and his joy, and the reason for his obedience! Friends, we are called to be obedient, regardless of the circumstances, regardless of what we see! God Promised, I Believe, and I am Counting on His Grace! Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails….” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
On March 21, 1981, I had the privilege to meet the most amazing young lady that I had ever seen! Standing in the dormitory, at Atlantic Christian College, waiting for her to appear, nothing had prepared me for the amazing vision that I saw! She walked into the room and my heart skipped a beat or two, as I fumbled to say, “Hello.” She was beautiful! Her hair was so long! It cascaded down below her waist and when she smiled, I was smitten! Away we went on our adventure! Our first stop was Parker’s Barbeque. In those days, I really knew how to “spoil” a girl! Next stop, the Bowling Alley. She beat me badly! I was still so focused on just how amazing she was, that I couldn’t even form words together to even act like someone with the ability to talk! As we sat at the snack area, I worked up enough courage to speak, and I asked for her phone number. Wow! She, actually, gave it to me! My heart skipped another beat! We brought her back to the dorm and we said our good-byes and back to Zebulon we went! On the drive home, I knew that my life had changed forever! Who would have thought that a “Blind Date” would be so special? Over the next few days, I was extremely busy, and I had not called her, and my friend asked me about calling her, and when I told him that I had not, well, he went “crazy!” I was still enamored, and I was still smiling, yet life was busy, and I just needed a push! I called her and we agreed to meet and go out again! Wow Wee… I was hooked! Now, she was not so much…she was completing her BS in Nursing and all that goes with those final days, and I was not a priority! I continued to visit, and we continued to date, and we continued to grow closer, and we continued to have fun together and then it happened! I was saying “Good Night,” and I said it, I really said it, I said, “I Love You!” She responded with, “Thank you!” Thank-you? Really? At this point, I began the campaign to change the “Thank you” into “I Love You!” Praise God! She finally said it and on October 29, 1983, she said, “I DO,” and our Love Story that began with a “Blind Date,” still survives and thrives today! By the way… I had prayed that God would send someone into my life that I could love and that she would love me and that, together, we could build a life together, that would honor Him and make our earthly lives fulfilling! THANK YOU, GOD, FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS! Annette, I loved you then, and I love you more today than I did yesterday! Thank you for 41 years of love, dedication, and shared blessings! Friends, may you know the blessings of God, in every area of your life! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
