March 11 The Power of HOPE Psalm 43:5

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.” (Psalm 43:5)

The recent events in politics, civil and social interactions have caused many professing believers to become desperate in their attitudes and actions. It seems to me that they have decided to board the train of discouragement, disappointment and depression as they descend into the depths of despair! Wow! How can we press the brake pedal and stop this descent into despair? Psalm 43:5 boldly proclaims the answer: “Hope in God!” Believers, politics, social and civil unrest are always circumstantial and will change with time, however, God does not change! Do you believe that He is powerful enough to change the circumstances? Do you believe that He can take a negative and turn it into a positive? Do you believe that His Love is powerful enough to change the hearts of those who are busy tearing down the very fabric of our lives? There is one amazing and beautiful fact, God Is Powerful Enough to Accomplish ALL! Please remember, when the darkness and despair of this life surrounds you, and you allow the influences of Satan to dominate your every thought, don’t give up, don’t give in, don’t allow the temporary to overshadow the eternal! Do you believe that God can handle our human issues and allow us to walk in the “light of His Hope,” versus the Darkness and despair of this human world? I choose HOPE! I choose GOD! Politics, Civil Unrest, Social Upheaval, Evil Actions, Twisted Ideologies, Rampant Violence and a Disregard for the Rule of Law are no match for my Jesus! So, I choose to Follow Him and refuse to be consumed by the tendency to be driven by temporal politics and I refuse to be used by Satan to thwart the Cause of Jesus Christ! What are your Priorities? As a Believer, are your words and actions in keeping with your public commitment to be “Christ-Like?” It is so easy to be caught up and swept away by the politics and insanity that prevails; however, I choose to follow Jesus and to be a witness for Him and I choose His Assurance, His Hope, His Peace and His Amazing Grace to Control and to Permeate my every Action and Thought! That is the Power of His HOPE! “My Hope is Built on nothing less than Jesus’ Love and Righteousness…” Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

“BE CONFIDENT”

March 10 “BE CONFIDENT” Philippians 1:6

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:6)

The very essence of our Christian experience is encapsulated in this scripture passage! It describes our entire salvation story, from beginning to end! Our God begins the work of forgiveness, or the miracle of “justification,” and He puts us in the proper relationship with the Father, through the Son! Hang on, that is just the beginning… Salvation starts with our conversion, our receiving the amazing Grace of Jesus’ sacrificial act at Calvary! The process does not stop at our conversion! God continues to do a work in us and through us and for us! I like to call this process “Sanctification!” Praise God! He is committed to the fulfilment of the process, yet often time we rebel or struggle, yet He is true to His Word, and He is ready to continue the process of completing this “Good” work in you! God is committed to accomplish His promise in us and the ultimate outcome is eternal life, with the Father and the Son, in Heaven! I believe that the biblical word for this is “Glorification!” So, it begins with God’s Love, and continues when we receive this Love by asking for forgiveness and receiving Jesus into our hearts! Once we have re-established the relationship, through Jesus, with the Father, the Blessed Holy Spirit takes over! He leads and guides and strengthens and empowers and corrects and is responsible for the “Sanctification” of our lives! When it is all said and done, and we stand before God the Father, and we see the face of Jesus, our redeemer, there is going to be “joy unspeakable,” forever! Thank God for His Love for us! Thank God for providing the means of re-establishing our relationship with Him, and the rewards of our commitment and service to Him! Praise God for what He has done; Is Doing, and Will do for us, if we will only trust, believe and receive His Amazing Grace! Get Ready! The Time is Drawing Near! TO GOD BE THE GLORY! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

“Seek and You WILL Find”

March 9 “Seek and You WILL Find” 1 Corinthians 2:9

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

When I observe the actions of this world and the individuals that are searching for beauty and meaning in the dark and decaying worldly existence, I am so encouraged by the redeeming Grace of my God! People are searching and their eyes are open, and their ears are tuned, and their hearts are longing, yet when the answer, the real and true answer, is presented, they doubt and run. A dear brother was sharing a story about a young man that was searching for some light into his dark world, and my friend shared the “Light and Love” of Jesus with him, and he walked away, refusing to believe that this could be true, yet he searches among the “self-help” books and the knowledge of humans, in order to satisfy his longing for understanding. Since Adam and the original sin, man has been in the grip of Satan and living in the darkness that sin brings to our existence. Because of the love that God has for His Creation (each one of us) and His desire for our relationship to be re-established, He sent Jesus as the one, true, and final blood sacrifice for our sins, and when we, by faith, believe, confess our sinfulness, and receive the saving Grace of God, we are privileged to experience the unveiling of God Bright and transforming Light. He unplugs our ears, and He allows us to see clearly His Great Love and His Limitless Power and Provision for our Lives! Receiving the Grace of God and His transforming and Saving Power, ignites, within our souls, the Hope and Joy and Power that we seek! Praise God! Because of His Grace and because of His act at Calvary, we can live in the radiant light of His Salvation, and we can bring that Light into the lives of others! Through Jesus, Our Eyes are Opened, and Our Ears can Hear, and our hearts are full of the Grace of Almighty God! I pray that you will allow God to unveil His Grace in you and be that Bright Light in this Dark and Decaying Sinful World! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE! REMEMBER THIS FACT: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) The Solution to the Problems that exist, for us, is a Saving Relationship with JESUS CHRIST! No One, or No Other Thing… Just JESUS!

“Place Your Hand in His”

March 8 “Place Your Hand in His” Acts 11:21

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “And the Hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.” (Acts 11:21)

I was in the Target Store, just recently, and a little boy was frantic and was crying because he had lost his mother. I bent down and attempted to comfort him and to assure him that we would find his mother. Even though he allowed me to assist in the search for Mom, he continued to loudly cry and to call her name! It was clear that my support and my hug were not enough to calm his fears and to ease his anxiety. I began to shout, “Mom,” and within seconds, his mother appeared, and all was well. She calmed his fears and eased his anxieties! That is exactly what was happening in the passage of scripture, for today. When you look around, this is exactly what is happening today! People are stressed out to the MAX! Even though we are not experiencing the same level of persecution that the early church experienced (yet), we are still being challenged, and circumstances are difficult! Look around…Marriages (and the institution of marriage) are under attack, Individuals questioning their gender, violence and destruction abounds in the inner cities, prices for basic goods and services are skyrocketing, instabilities around the globe, and anxiety and fears abound! Fear Not My Friends… God has our backs! He has not; and will not remove His Hand from our lives! The call, today, is to place your hand in His and hold on, and claim His Grace, His Power, His Provision and His Sustaining Promises, that He WILL see us through until the End! Place your Hand in HIS! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

God Does Not Call the Qualified, He Qualifies the Called!

DAVID was depressed -

MOSES was anxious -

HANNAH was barren -

PAUL was in prison -

JACOB was a cheater -

PETER had a temper -

DAVID had an affair -

NOAH got drunk -

JONAH ran away from God -

PAUL was a murderer -

GIDEON was insecure -

MIRIAM was a gossip -

MARTHA was a nervous wreck -

THOMAS was a doubter -

SARAH was impatient -

MOSES had a speech impediment -

ZACCHEUS was short -

ABARHAM was old -

LAZARUS was dead –

What do all these individuals have in common? GOD SET THEM FREE! He used their struggles and turned them into a testimony of His great power! God can turn your worst seasons around and w3hen you choose to worship Him in the middle of the storm! Turn your eyes upon Jesus and away from the darkness and watch Him use you in amazing ways! Remember, each one of these individuals had a choice, and I implore you to worship God! It is your choice! You must choose to worship even when you don’t feel like it! You must choose to seek God even in the middle of suffering and distress! Remember, your worship of our amazing God will allow Him to strengthen and sustain you and allow Him to fulfill His calling for your life! REMEMBER: God Does Not Call the Qualified, HE Qualifies the Called! Romans 8:28-30 speaks the truth… 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Jesus called 12 ordinary men to change the world… As a Believer, He has called you! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

“Get Saved NOW!”

March 6 “Get Saved NOW!” 2 Corinthians 6:2

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “For He says: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, ***now is the day of salvation*.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)**

Over the past several months, I have participated, in their services and witnessed the deaths of so many people! Two of these folks had lived difficult and challenging lives, and I was asked if one of the young men had been saved! I was so glad to report that he was saved and that he was doing so much better in his living! Their ages ranged from 91 years old, to 26 years old, and death came to each of them. Some were expected, and others were sudden, and without warning! The message is simple and clear! You do not know when death will knock on your door, so you need to be ready! You need to make a choice where you will spend eternity! FACT: Every one of us will live for eternity! The question is, WHERE WILL WE SPEND ETERNITY! Claiming the Saving and Forgiving Grace of Jesus Christ ensures your “Forever” in Heaven! Rejecting Him and Refusing to recognize His Selfless Act of Grace and Forgiveness on the Cross, you have made the decision to spend eternity in torment and pain and, ultimately, the fires of a burning Hot HELL! John 3:16 tells us that, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” 2 Peter 3:9 speaks of the intentions of our God! “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” NOW IS THE TIME TO REPENT and COME TO JESUS! It is very simple: The ABC’s of SALVATION!

A – Admit: Admit what you have done wrong and ask forgiveness. Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death.”
I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

B – Believe: Believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again as a payment for your sins. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

C - Confess and Choose: Confess and choose to allow God to the be in charge of your life! Matthew 16:24 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:13 “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Source - 2021 ABCJesusLovesMe) It is that simple! God Loves You! Jesus Came to ensure your salvation! It is UP TO YOU! Where will you spend your eternity? How will you live your life? WHAT IS IT? SALVATION! WHEN DO WE WANT IT? NOW! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Many speak of “Peace” and “Harmony,” yet are unwilling to change themselves! How easy it is to find fault with others, while continuing to demonstrate a hostile attitude towards your fellow travelers! In this highly charged political environment, it becomes clear what individuals determine as a priority in their lives! Wow! This life is so short, and we really need to recognize what is important and that which means absolutely nothing! Politics, Social Issues, Attitudes, Opinions, Bias, Prejudices, will all pass away! As Christ Centered Believers, we are to demonstrate in our words, actions and attitudes the FACT of His Grace and Love and “Pursue Peace with One Another!” Do you think that God is moved by your opinion or your political viewpoint? Do you believe that treating your neighbor with hatred and abandon is the way that God would have you behave? The one amazing fact of the recent events in my personal life that have caused me to look at the chaos and the futility of this struggle between “Good” and “Evil,” with a joyful and repentant heart! AS BELIEVERS, WE ARE CALLLED TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS, LIVE THE GOOD NEWS AND TO PROMOTE THE PEAACE OF GOD AMONG THE BRETHREN! Our Time Here is SHORT! Please do not waste your precious time by squabbling and fighting over junk that does not matter! I am preparing for by next adventure with my Savior, and I refuse to be entangled in the conflicts of this age and the Satanic driven attitudes that seem to be rearing their ugly heads! Please Re-Focus, Renew and Fortify your relationship with the Savior, and live to edify Him, and not some limited and worthless earthly personal opinion! Experience the New Life in Christ, and Live to Promote His Grace and Glory! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

March 4 Resist Evil Folk & Their Influence Proverbs 1:10

**Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them.” (Proverbs 1:10)**

Here we go again, with one of my “Life’s Experiences Stories” that teach a valuable lesson, or at least, was valuable to me, at the time! Imagine, if you will, a typical hot Eastern North Carolina evening, with 4 young boys anticipating darkness to fall so that they could “camp-out” all night long. We had done this before, yet this night was different. On this night, we had the addition of an older boy, and he immediately became the leader of this little pack. We were “goofing” around and talking about “girls,” and all of a sudden, the new boy suggested that this was boring and that we should do something exciting. I will call him Bubba, since he is still living, and he is well known in Eastern Wayne County. Bubba decides that we should go to Mr. A. O. Price’s Store and break into his “Drink” building and take some drinks. The three original boys, which includes me, were reluctant to sign on to this program, however, the pressure to conform and the prestige of Bubba soon wore us down. So, off we go! “How am I going to avoid this and save face?” That “Still Small Voice” was screaming at me… “DON’T DO IT!!!” Immediately, I pretended that my stomach was killing me and that I had to go to the bathroom and that I was going to my house to handle the situation and that I would catch up to them, as quickly as I could resolve the situation. So, they continued, to accomplish their mission, and I went to my house and undressed and crawled into my bed. Daddy came into my room and inquired about why I came home, and I told him that I didn’t feel well. That was the truth…I didn’t feel well about stealing Mr. Price’s drinks! To finish the story…the fellas did go to the store, and they did break into the drink house, and they did get caught! It just so happened that a Wayne County Deputy Sheriff was parked behind the store, yet, out of sight of the drink house. He heard the noise and came to investigate and found my friends and Bubba, inside of the building, at night, with the store closed and drinks in hand. What happened next was truly ugly! My friend’s parents were called to go to Goldsboro to pick up their sons, including the big boy, Bubba! The next day, the story was all over the small community of Spring Bank. Praise God that my name was not a part of the rapidly spreading news! I didn’t understand what had happened to me that night and why I couldn’t bring myself to follow the fellas into this mess. As I matured, both physically; and more specifically, Spiritually, I understood that the Holy Spirit was guiding and strongly directing me to “Cut and Run” to my safe place! God promised the HOLY SPIRIT and we need to be sensitive and tuned into His teaching, leading, and instructions. This event was over 50 years ago, and it is as clear to me, as if it was 50 minutes ago. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you… Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

“Exercising Great Love!”

March 3 “Exercising Great Love!” 2 Peter 3:9

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

My earliest memories involve the love of my mother and the mercy that she demonstrated towards this “active and mischievous” little boy! I was inquisitive and I wanted to see how things worked, and that would include taking things apart and putting them back together. One example was the Electrolux vacuum cleaner. It came apart easily, and it went back together just as simply, with 2 parts left over! Oops! Here comes the exercise of her great love! I know that I put Mama through some trying times, yet she was so compassionate, and she loved me through the “growth.” Now, her patience had limits! From time to time, she would exercise her great love at the end of a belt or a “switch (that I would have to fetch)!” Mama was my first example of the Love of God and the depth of His love for a wayward people. My God loves each one of us and He does not want any to perish, and this great love is extended to all! Just as Mama would show mercy, our God shows mercy to us! He does not overlook Sin, or ignore His Holiness, but God is patient and loving and He is ready to forgive and to reconnect with us. Folks, I would ask why it was that I would receive a “killing” for my actions, yet my friend would get a pass from his mother! “Because I love you more,” was my mother’s answer! Peter said that it might appear that our Lord was “slack” in punishing the sinful, however, God is patient and loving and He wants us to repent and to claim His Grace and to re-establish a “Right” relationship with Him. God is patiently waiting for you today! Every day, in everything, God is actively demonstrating His Great Love for Us! Sadly, not everyone will be SAVED! God’s Love demands Holiness, and His Holiness is always tempered by HIS LOVE! Just remember this: God Loves You and He is Not Slack with this Love! He has Promised Redemption, and Eternal Life, with Him, and the Price of Admission to Heaven has been paid on the Cross of Calvary! God is ready to forgive your sins, and He is willing to show His Mercy towards you, and to offer His Grace (His unmerited favor) for the remission of your sins! My dear Mama corrected me because she loved me, and my God offers His Love and He corrects me and guides me and protects me, and He is not SLACK in Doing IT! I have rambled on to say this and it is the most important lesson of all: “… not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” (Matthew 7:1-5)

“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” (Romans 12:18)

My daddy taught me the value of being aware of my surroundings and he instructed me in the reality that not everyone, regardless of their outward appearance, are edifying to the Body of Christ! In my almost 69 years of living, observing and participating in this journey of Life, I have NEVER seen the division, hatred and the sheer intolerance of the conflict of ideas! Shockingly, professing Believers have verbalized and demonstrated their priorities for living, when their political and social views take precedent over their perceived responsibilities as a True Servant of Christ! When I post devotions expressing the need for Believers to Act, Live and Demonstrate God’s Love, through the Grace of Jesus, and I garner criticism and, often times, borderline hate filled responses, then it creates an opportunity for Satan to influence my attitude (His Word tells us that this world will hate believers for Jesus’ sake)! When I am supposed to be a witness for Jesus and I am to “Live Peacefully,” as best as I can, with all peoples, and tolerate the “Intolerance” of others, it becomes challenging to refrain from Judging! One of the most difficult challenges that I have endured, recently, is the insanity of those who are clothed in Sheep’s Wool, spouting platitudes of hatred, intolerance and, often time, out and out lies, with the sole intend to discredit the Cause of Christ and to create disharmony and strife! Wow! How incredibly difficult it is not to point fingers and to “call out” the ridiculous rhetoric that permeates the Social Media and the Airways! The reality is clear for me, as a Believer, and a Follower of Jesus Christ, that I MUST NOT JUDGE! When I judge you, I open myself up to the same level of judgement that I hold you accountable! This is a fact and not judgement! If you value your opinion over the Holy Word of God, and you had rather proclaim a narrow political/Social message over the Saving Message of Jesus, then God will judge you and, sadly, so many just don’t get it! So, judge me if you must, criticize me if you like, condemn me if you will, but be fully aware that I WILL CONTINUE TO PRIORITIZE JESUS IN WORDS, ACTIONS AND INTENT, and I will respect your right to serve whatever MASTER that you so desire. Just Remember, God’s Judgement is a bit more intense that my judgement! Follow God’s Word, Live, Act and Be what He has Ordained! Stay Strong, Stay Focused… THE BEST IS YET TO BE!

My dear friend and long-time Prayer Partner, Reverend Ricky Anderson, has told me of his experiences of standing on the hillside and looking over into the most famous battlefield that exists, the Valley of Jezreel. It is more commonly known as the Valley of Armageddon! As a student of history, I know that the first recorded battle took place there, and the exciting news is that the Last Battle fought on this earth will happen right there! This is a famous battlefield, yet the most common and most used battlefield is in our hearts and minds! The Apostle Paul gives clear instructions to cover ourselves with the breastplate of Faith and Love, and to protect our minds with the helmet of Salvation! Listen, the instructions from Paul are applicable to our lives today! Faith ushers into our lives, the righteousness of Christ, and this Love allows us to share it with others! This Hope of Salvation, that Paul speaks about, protects our minds and is a true source of encouragement! Listen Closely!!! Every single day, Satan is actively engaged in the battle for your thoughts and your very heart! He is seeking control, so that he can cause others to doubt and to stumble along this life! THE ONLY WAY TO ENSURE VICTORY AND TO SERVE GOD, IS TO REMAIN ALERT AND TO BE READY FOR THE BATTLE! There is no doubt, WE ARE IN A BATTLE FOR THE VERY SOUL OF MAN! Get Ready, Be Ready and “Armor Up!” “NOT TODAY SATAN, NOT TODAY!” Stay Strong, Stay Focused, Stay Ready…The Battle is at hand! Victory is ours, through the Blood of Jesus! REMEMBER: THE BEST IS ABSOLUTELY AND WITHOUT A DOUBT, YET TO BE!
