January 20 Peace in the Midst of Change Philippians 4:6-7
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina… “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
***Congratulations to President Joe Biden and to Vice-President Kamala Harris! I am committed to praying for you both, every single day! ***
This statement above is going to invoke some “Heartburn” for many, yet, as a True Follower of Christ, I am obligated to pray for the leaders of our country. Notice that I didn’t say that I had to agree with them or accept their policies and procedures, yet, as a believer; I must love them and pray for them! 1 Timothy 2:1-2 speaks clearly on the subject: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” Just yesterday, a dear friend that I have the greatest level of respect for his insights; asked me how I could be so casual when the world is collapsing around us. First of all, I am not in charge of the world or its direction or its destruction! Secondly, I know beyond any doubt, that my Savior is in control and that I do not have to worry about His plan unfolding. Now, don’t think me simple or ignorant of the earthly political issues that exist nor the temporal earthly challenges that are ahead, yet, I do not fear! You see, I am the Son of a King, who is not moved by the world. For my God is with me and He goes before me; I do not fear because I am His! When I believe that the scriptures clearly spell out the way to salvation and I believe them, then I have to believe the scriptures when they instruct me to love my neighbor! It doesn’t say, love your neighbor, unless you disagree with them! Answering the question of how I can that I can have a Peace about the world and its issues, I say this boldly: I am praying that God will provide the wisdom, the vision, the obedience, the power to meet and live within the situations that exist. I am not committed to changing the world. I am committed to changing people, one soul at a time! I am Grateful for my salvation and I am Praying and I am Claiming God’s Promises and I am experiencing the Peace of God! He is in control and He controls me…Let not your hearts be troubled! Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
