February 25 As You Think, So You Are! Philippians 4:8
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina…“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
What are you thinking about? Are you consumed by the negative news of the day? Are you being influenced by the political and secular challenges that are happening? Many years ago, I, along with the crew, were sent into one of the tobacco fields to “hand remove” the multitudes of “Tobacco Worms.” Spraying the field had only slowed them, as they continued to eat their way through the drop. After an hour or so, we had removed hundreds of worms, yet, the worms were not the only negative thing that was found. It was hot, and there were other critters on the leaves, like, spiders and, for whatever reason, Ladybugs. There was a constant “drone” of negativity coming from the field. We were tasked with the removal of the worms, yet we were complaining about everything else. “I sent you into the field to kill the worms, not to find everything else that is wrong!” That was the statement from my cousin; that owned the crop. This is a small example, however, the every next Sunday, Daddy was preaching on this very scripture and he made a statement that really brought the experience home to me. He said, “You are moving in the direction of your current dominant thought!” Wow…how true is that! What we think about and what we dwell on is what we are going to act on! As I have matured, in my faith, I have come to realize that I am responsible for my thoughts, because my thoughts will drive my actions. It is easy to see the negative and issues of the day, yet, it is more challenging to see the good and the positive, as we navigate through the worldly negative! Folks, what if we were sent into the world to find the positive and the beautiful that exists, and we were anticipating the positive; do you think that we would find it? Our maturing, our growth, our fulfillment of His purpose for our lives, requires the willingness to seek the positive and the good and the edifying! How you think and what you think will, ABSOLUTELY, determine how you act and what you do! Your attitude is the key to success in your Christian Life! Remember… “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Stay Strong, Stay Focused…THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
