February 26 Walk in Wisdom Ephesians 5:15-16
Good morning from Pastor Glen Brock, Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, North Carolina…“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)
A few days ago, I was in a conversation with some folks that were younger than I, and they were talking about the new season of TV and the programs that they liked best. I felt ignorant and could not make a comment, pro or can, because I made a decision, long ago, to limit the amount and the quality of my TV viewing. I cannot tell you about any programs that are on the major networks, on any given night! When I was a boy, Daddy’s favorite term for the TV was, “The BOOB TUBE!” Folks, if we are serious about our “Walk with Christ, “then we MUST protect what we are exposed to and we MUST filter the information. If you are getting a steady diet of profane and worldly information, then, you are going to act on it! I did an evaluation on my own TV watching and I realized that the Hallmark Channel, Perry Mason, Hazel, Gunsmoke and Wild Wild West, along with WRAL Weather; was the limit to my viewing (I appreciate the ability to record my own programming). I made a decision, long ago, to spend the time that I was using on TV to concentrate on Bible reading and meditation and prayer. Folks, there are so many distractions in our lives, and Satan uses each one to move you further away from an active and growing relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. This is a FACT, if I am to follow Jesus and to be actively growing in His Grace, then, I have to “Hone” my focus and commit to spending more time with Him, in prayer and study and “Quiet Time!” Please protect your mind! Control what you are “Feeding” your thoughts and your mind! If you put “Garbage in,” you will surely get “Garbage” out!! We are told, in James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” You have a choice! You decide who you will serve! “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). Whatever is to be, it is absolutely up to you! God loves us and has provided Salvation for us and He has Promised His Blessings and Provision and Power! What are we to do? “KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS!” How are we to know what He requires when we are focused on the worldly, temporal and profane influences of this Satanic world? It is your choice! Stay Strong, Stay Focused….THE BEST IS YET TO BE!
